Dicclaimer: I'll own Wicked the day monkeys fly...on Earth.

A/N: Takes place at Shiz right after "I'm Not That Girl". Elphaboq friendship. My first fanfic!

"Hey, Boq," said Elphaba, meeting her friend in the library after school. He was practically the only person at Shiz who, like Elphaba, actually studied every once in awhile, a concept most students found hard to grasp.

"Hello, Elphaba," replied her friend, barely looking up from his book. The two sat and studied for about half an hour, before the munchkin decided to leave.

"See you tomorrow, Elphaba. There's a party at Ozdust tonight and I can't miss it," he explained.

"Since when do you go to parties?" asked the green girl. Boq's social life was about as busy as Elphaba's, so it was pretty much non-existent.

"Well, this one's going to be--"

"Galinda's going," said Elphaba, suddenly understanding her friend's intentions.

"That's not why!" exclaimed the tall munchkin, but his red face was proof enough for Elphaba. She rolled her eyes.

"Face it, Boq. She's not interested. Anyway, she has Fiyero." Elphaba secretly hoped that her last sentence hadn't made her sound like she was jealous of her friend, which she was most certainly not. No, Galinda could have Fiyero and that day with the Lion Cub he was just being a good friend. Unfortunately, the green girl's face gave away her thoughts.

Boq smirked. "You like Fiyero, don't you?" he asked smugly. Elphaba blushed a dark olive hue.

"No, Boq, I most certainly do not have any feelings whatsoever for that brainless, spoiled prince, nor will I ever," was her sharp reply.

"Fine. I'll admit to liking Galinda when you admit you like Fiyero. I can tell, anyway. It's totally obvious. And he likes you too. I can tell. He looks at you differently then he looks at Galinda." Elphaba blushed even darker and she used her book to cover up her face.

"Is it really that obvious?" she whispered, hoping her friend wouldn't hear.

"Ha! I knew it! You like Fiyero, you like Fiyero!" he taunted like he was five years old.

"Shut up! Oh, that's really mature," said the green girl, rolling her eyes as her face went back to it's normal shade of green.

"Hey, I've got a plan!" cried the munchkin, sitting back down. "We both go to the dance tonight, and I'll ask Galinda out, and you ask Fiyero!" Elphaba shook her head.

"There are two flaws in your plan, I'm afraid, Boq," said the green girl. "For one thing, Galinda hardly even knows you exist. And Fiyero would choose me over Galinda the day monkeys fly."

And with that, both Shiz students sighed and returned to their reading, for Elphaba had been right.
