Burnt Touch of a Memory.

A/N: Short drabble dedication to Donna Noble.

Disclaimer: Doctor Who quotes aren't mine, they're owned by the BBC.

He remembers her.

"Oi! Watch it, Spaceman!"

How could he forget her?

"I've gotten married, lost my job and become a widow on the same day."

She was light a sun, bright and unrelenting.

"Hey, this makes a change! There's a monster, and we're chasing it!"

Snarky, witty, fierce and independent.

"He is too skinny for words. You give him a hug; you get a paper cut!"

An ideal companion to travel time and space with; as a friend he needed, not a love interest.

"Typical. All the decent men are on the other bus."

But even a sun has to set, to burn itself out.

"You know you can fix that chameleon circuit if you just try hot-wiring the fragment links and superseding the binary, binary, binary..."

Her last moment shone brighter than the rest.

"Closing all zed neutrino relay loops using an internalized synchronous back feed reversal loop."

He wished that they could have kept going.

"I thought we'd try the planet Feldspoon. Just 'cause. What a good name, Feldspoon. Apparently it's got mountains that sway in the breeze. Mountains that move, can you imagine?"

But in the end, it was never meant to be.

"I was gonna be with you. Forever."

When he took away her memories, he died a little on the inside.

"Rest of my life. Traveling. In the TARDIS. The Doctor/Donna. Oh, my, I can't go back."

He cared, so he did what he had to. And it burned both of them.

"Don't make me go back. Doctor, please! Please don't make me go back."

She can't remember him, so he remembers her. 'Til the end of time itself.

A/N: Honestly, it wasn't hard to write this. I mean, the outrage I felt when I saw the end of S4 has dissolved to leave only sadness. Her fate was possibly one of the worst in companion history.

Donna Noble is, and always will be, my favourite companion.
