Henry sat on settee quietly thinking of the last month.

Danielle had been angry hearing of what Marguerite had wanted. She had prevented Henry from killing Le Pieu after she told him that he wanted to force their child into servitude. Henry smiled faintly.

Danielle. His strong Princess. She had commanded that Marguerite and Le Pieu be sent to the New World together, to suffer fourteen years of servitude with a family that knew of what they did. Henry had made sure that this would happen besides the King and Queen.

His parents were estactic that Danielle was safe. His mother had cried upon seeing her and whisked her off to rest in the garden. Her 'family' at the manor came to the castle bringing all sort of foods and small toys for the baby. Jacquline had been horrified when Laurent told her what Marguerite had orchestrated. She denounced her sister completely, and spent everyday with Danielle.

Danielle visited Rodmilla a week after she came back. Rodmilla showed remorse for what she had done, and apologized for what Marguerite had planned and carried out. She then surprised everyone by saying that she was content with her life now and didn't want to be released from her servitude. Danielle left Rodmilla in a slightly better relationship than before, as Rodmilla had given her an embroidered baby gown she had made from scraps found in the laundry.

Henry heard a small whimper from the cradle on the floor beside the settee. Smiling he bent over and rocked the cradle, soothing Princess Nicolette Jaqculine Marie. Unable to resist he reached in and gently lifted his two-day old daughter into his arms.

"Henry,"

He looked over to the bed at his wife, who was smiling at him and shaking her head.

"I can't help it."

Danielle again shook her head, and went back to cooing into the bundle in her arms. Prince Louis Joseph Henry Francis, the next King of France waved his arms at his mother. Danielle had surprised them all when two days ago she went into labor. When many nobles thought they had lost their Princess and their heir, Danielle had been found and had two children. Parties were still happening all over France.

Leonardo had given the Prince and Princess two small paintings of the river where he had first met Danielle. "One for each so that they will always know that their Father fell in love with their Mother in the most serene of places." he had explained to them smiling at the small babies.

Henry stood and moved over to the bed, sliding in next to his wife. Danielle rested her head on his shoulder and smiled at their daughter.

"This is the happily ever after I wanted."

Henry chuckled, and pressing a kiss to her forehead he looked down at his wife and two children.

"No my love, our happily ever after is just beginning."
