It had been forever. Darkness and corrupted rules had been home for so long. Black voids had become a comfort, and flying "upside-down" was a joy.
How long had it been now? A millennium? Just a few years? It couldn't have been an eternity, many of the Pokemon it could sometimes see if it tried hard enough seemed the same as the first time it had Peeked.
This place, this space... nothing living existed here except it. Perhaps it was lonely here, perhaps it was crowded. It did not know. It had not interacted with any living thing before.
"Grooo..."
What was loneliness? What was fear? Happiness? Remorse? Joy? When it Peeked it saw and heard these things, but what did they feel like? Did they feel good?
It wanted to know.
It yearned to know.
Long ago it had been sealed here, locked away for its presumed violence and penchant for causing disaster and destruction.
It did not understand this, and so it yearned for freedom. It had been created that way, hadn't it? Did that mean it was a toy? Something the Creator had made just to seal away? It did not know.
"Rooo...."
It could feel it. Close. The Being. The Being that would free it was almost here.
It Peeked into the other world, showing its shadowy form to the Being.
I am here, it called. Set me free, it begged.
The time was eternity, too long. Much too long now. Let the Three Beings fall. Let the one to free it come.
The blackness was beginning to feel uncomfortable, and the eerie physics of its home made it roar in frustration. It wished for that other world.
"Groooo!"
Now is the time, the Three Beings failed, the portal between the worlds was opened. But it knew it could not leave on its own, and so it Peeked to the three on the mountain, enticing them to follow it to its world.
It flew by the Being as he made his way closer and closer to the middle of the world, where it would be waiting in time. It watched as the Being and the guide of the Being took on the Vile One, defeating him easily.
It waited in the middle of the accursed world. Waited where it had waited since the Beginning. Yet waiting was over, for its time was now.
"GROOO!"
It roared out as the Being's Pokemon fought it. It fought hard to make sure this was the true one, the true light one that would free it, and as the red glow of a ball in mid-catch blinded it, all the weight and loneliness of the Distortion World fell away.
As the Being held up the ball, turning to face the portal to the other world, deep inside the ball it roared.
"Teach me what it is to live. I am here. I exist. Let me live..."
And Giratina understood.
