Caramel

Zero felt her leaving. It tugged at him in an almost physical way.

Vampire. Her. Kuran.

Leaving him alone here, with his sickness. He lifted the Bloody Rose to his head and put it back down on the wall again.

The cool darkness of the night seeped into him through the stones he rested his hands on.

He'd promised that they'd see each other again, that he'd kill her.

He shut his eyes against the screaming ache in his chest, screaming for her to stay but it was better for her to go.

Dreaming of the Yuuki he knew once, who smelt of caramel and cinnamon, longing to taste her again, would do no good. The thought burned through him with frightening intensity and he had to use all his will power to push it away as he dropped to his knees.

He felt the bite marks on his neck.

Vampire. Pure blood. Kuran's.

She'd closed the circuit by taking his blood, knew him now as well as he knew her. She knew how he longed for her, how he had loved her, how he didn't know what to do with the feelings now. He couldn't love a vampire.

Zero placed the Bloody Rose back in its holder. He couldn't kill her yet, with her human memory still fresh and real, but if she stayed he would have to.

He would love her for a long while.

It was better for her to be gone.
