He tossed and turned in him sleep, his long silver hair tangling as he dreamt on about her. He remember her so well. The way that her hair fell over her back. How her lips parted in her sleep. How her voice seemed to match that on an angel. She was his angel, but like many angels, she was nothing but a memory now.
It all seemed so fresh in his mind, like had happened yesterday, not almost ten years ago. He still remembered how it had happened. How since she was such a fragile human, and he had forgotten that for less than a second... and how ever since then, he has not been able to rid himself of the hellish nightmare that once happened.
Eighteen years old was such a young and tender age for humans and demons alike. She had just turned eighteen that first day of spring. She was so full of life, but now that life was long gone.
His claws dug at the dirt, tearing it to shred's as he dreamed on about his mistake.
She was standing behind him. He remembered how she smelt of sakkura blossoms and sweet peas. He loved that scent on her.
His breathing became rugged as he whinned out in his sleep.
"My Lord," she whispered to him. God how he loved the sound of her voice.
"Yes Rin?" he asked her, not looking back at the human behind him. He heard her pause, he scent fear from her. He wondered what would make her fear him.
His body shovered where it lay on the ground.
"May I make a request for my birthday, My Lord?" she sounded so scared and nervous. Inside he was chuckling at the human girl he called his ward.
"What is it Rin?" He asked, waiting for his answer, he was prepared for almost anything... except for the words that came out of her mouth.
"May I have a kiss?" she asked him, her voice seemed so far away.
He growled as if in pain was he slept, the memory burning its way into his mind like so many times before.
His anger flared as the demon inside of him took control of his body before he could take any action.
His back arched and tears stared to leak from his closed eyes.
He whipped around and his hand reached out so fast and he hit her.. She went flying and landed against a tree.
A cry of sorrow sounded through the small clearing he was resting in.
He gained back control almost instantly. He rushed over to her and picked her body up from the ground.
A higher pitched whine escaped his throat and mingled with the sounds of sorrow.
Her head fell to the side, he neck broken from the blow he had sent her way.
His body twitched and shivered in the ground.
He looked at her. Her body was still warm, but she was gone. He couldn't bring her back this time.
He shot up from the horrible dream that had plagued him every night for the past ten years. A heart breaking sob tore from his lips as he leaded over and gasped for breath, trying to calm down. His claws dug deeper into the ground and his hair hide his face as the tears continued to flow from his eyes at a steady rate.
After what seemed like forever, he was able to breath again and he leaned back and looked up at the stars in the sky. He remembered a story his mother once told him.
"When someone is taken from this world, before their natural time, they become stars."
He liked to think that Rin was up there somewhere, among the millions of stars that were the souls of the dearly departed. A clawed hand went up to his hand and he kissed it and he blew on his hand, towards the stars in the sky.
"There's your kiss Rin."
He watched, and smiled as one of the stars seems to glow brighter high above him in the sky.
