It was raining outside.
It was raining outside and Takashi did not like it. Something was wrong. Something was missing. Something was... were was Mitsukuni?
"Mitsukuni is missing," Takashi said, monotonously, as if he had no particular emotions to go with the statement. However, flames were raging deep inside him. Whenever Mitsukuni is missing, trouble usually takes his place. Of course, the trouble did lead back to Mitsukuni again.
Still, it would be best if Mitsukuni was found before major damage was done. Takashi turned around and surveyed the room, looking for a clue. Ignoring the rest of the Host Club and all their clients, there were a few clues that pointed to Mitsukuni. There was Mitsukuni's dish with a half-eaten cake still on it, the trail of fading flowers leading to the door, Mitsukuni's school bag...
"Why is the cake still there?" Takashi thought, staring pensively at the dessert. "Mitsukuni always finishes his cake..."
Takashi lifted the dish and examined it. It was definitely Mitsukuni's. "This must mean something terrible happened." Takashi grabbed his coat and ran for the door, knocking over Tamaki on his way. The hall was completely cluttered. Vases had been turned over, plants had been pulled out. Mitsukuni had been looking for something.
"Of course," Takashi thought, "I knew something was odd back then." As he thought back, Takashi realised that Mitsukuni had looked different when they entered the music room. Now that he gave it more thought, he realised Mitsukuni hadn't been holding Usa-chan.
Of course, Mitsukuni had been too busy too notice, eating a lolly Tamaki had given him, but Takashi would never forgive himself for not realising it back then. Still, he now knew where Mitsukuni had to be and it wasn't pleasant. Usa-chan had to have been lost between the martial arts section of the sports fields and the main school building. However, that road went through a big garden. A garden with nowhere to hide from the rain.
Takashi ran even faster now, sprinting out of the school and into the garden. He looked frantically, calling out Mitsukuni's name and ignoring the odd stares from his school mates. After a few minutes, Takashi was completely soaked, although he didn't notice. Finally, he heard a soft whimper. "Mitsukuni!" he called out as he ran towards the source of the sound. There, hiding as much as he could under a small bush, was a soaked and crying Mitsukuni, clutching an equally-soaked Usa-chan. "T-takashi? I-I'm sorry..."
Takashi lifted the small form and held him tightly. "What for?"
"For leaving without saying anything," Mitsukuni sniffed, "I lost Usa-chan."
"I should be the one saying 'I'm sorry'." Takashi said, giving a small smile, "Let's get back inside and take a nice, hot bath in the school onsen. You'll get sick like this"
"I-I forgot to finish my cake"
"The cake is safe in the music room. You can eat it when we get cleaned up."
"Can I have a new one as well? To build up my immune system?"
Takashi gave one of his famous, but rare smiles. "All right, but just this once."
Mitsukuni smiled as if nothing ever happened. "Thank you Takashi~✿ You're the best friend ever!"
