Disclaimer: Harry Potter does not belong to me along with the characters, except for Lily Jane Potter. Only the plot is mine.

Author's Note: I wrote this fanflic after watching the movie 17 Again with Zac Effron. In the movie he describes what it feels like to hold his daughter for the first time. This story was inspired by those feelings. In this particular story Harry Potter holds his daughter for this first time while his wife is sleeping.

The light has just started to break over the rooftops. This is just the beginning of a very beautiful friendship. Three hours ago your mother approached me and said. "It's time to go." "Three hours later here you are."

Harry looked down at his daughter. "Impatient just like your mother." "She always wants to be early, and it looks like you're following in her footsteps." Harry smiled at her. "I don't mind though. We were both eager for you to get here." Harry brushed a strand of amber colored hair off her forehead. His daughter's eyes flew open, and Harry smiled as he gazed into eyes that matched his own. His gaze traveled over her upturned nose, her pouty lips, and the light dusting of freckles that covered the bridge of her nose. "Like her mother in every way, except for my eyes," thought Harry.

Harry glanced at his sleeping wife and then back at their daughter. He slipped his finger into her tiny hand. "One day when you get older I'll tell you this story," he said. "I'll tell you of how I fell in love with your mother. I'll tell you of our first date and how I proposed. I'll tell you how she told me she was pregnant with you. I'll tell you of all the months that led up to you being born. Now looking at you I'm reminded of all the reasons why I love your mother. One day you to will know these reasons. I'll remind you at the end of the story of how much you look like your mother and why because of this is the reason I love you so much. You look like the love of my life. "Welcome to the family, Lily Jane Potter," he said.
