Authors Note: Okie Dokie, this is a simple one-shot about the two shepherd brothers (before SH homecoming).

'AHHH!!'

Alex automatically sat upright.

Climbing down from the warm comfort of his bunk, Alex was beginning to get annoyed with Joshua's constant waking in the middle of the night.

Alex sighed in frustration. "What's the matter kiddo?"

Josh quickly turned away, wiping the tears from his eyes. "I...I had a bad dream...don't worry, it's nothing."
Seeing Joshua so distraught brought out the protective older sibling within Alex.

Alex knelt down beside Joshua's bed, placing his hand caringly on the younger Shepherd's shoulder while doing so.

"What was your dream about?"

Joshua sat there silent for a moment before replying; obviously trying to remember the content of the nightmare.

"Well...there was this thing, and it had a pyramid shaped helmet. And the pyramid thingy pushed me off a boat and into a lake."

Alex's matured mind knew the dream was rather silly, but for a child it would have been horrifying.

"Don't worry buddy, it was just a dream. Do you see any Pyramid monster's around here?" Alex comforted while pointing aimlessly around the dark bedroom.

Joshua shook his head slowly after looking around the room.

"No..."

Suddenly Alex had an idea. "Hey Josh, you don't feel scared when the lights are on do you?"

Joshua looked at the older Shepherd in slight confusion.

Alex stood and reached under the pillow on his bunk, revealing a worn flashlight.

"If you get scared again, just turn it on." Alex stated kindly, while handing the younger Shepherd the flashlight.

Joshua examined the flashlight in his small hands.

"Thanks Alex!"

The young brunette quickly got out of his bed, and gave Alex a quick hug before returning to the comfort of his tan coloured bed sheets.

Alex smiled, while also returning to his bunk.

The older brunette climbed back up the creaky wooden ladder, and snuggled back under the covers of his bed.

The two laid in silence, Alex thought Josh had fallen asleep.

That was until the little boy spoke.

"Good night Alex...I love you."

Alex smiled. "Love you too."

Even if the rest of Alex's family didn't love him, he knew Joshua always would.

Surprisingly enough, Joshua didn't have nightmares for a long time after that night.

The End
