Alternate Ending to the "Titanic" movie

As Rose neared the railing at the back of the salvage boat, she thought she heard a noise behind her, but when she turned around she could not see anyone there. She continued on her way to the railing, overlooking the dark, cold water, then pulled the necklace out of her pocket.

"I just knew you had it!" Brock Lovett shouted as he jumped out from the shadows, his eyes glittering like a madman crazed with greed. "I could smell it! Give it to me - I need that to pay for this abominable salvage operation!"

Startled, Rose refused to let go of her precious diamond. She had intended to let it sink to the bottom of the ocean, there to rest with her beloved Jack, but she was not willing to give it to this man who only saw the money it could bring. As he tried to wrest it from her hands, she held on with all of her strength, but in the end he succeeded in forcibly pulling it out of her fragile fingers.

"Mine! Mine! My precious!" he cried in triumph as he backed away from Rose, who reached out to somehow get it back from him. But as Brock moved away from the determined woman, he tripped on a rope and lost his balance. He tumbled backwards over the railing, only barely managing to catch himself with one hand. Rose saw her chance and approached with a menacing glare.

"Give that back!" she said slowly but clearly as the rising anger within her gave her strength. She caught the diamond where it dangled from his one hand, then yanked to rip it out of his grasp. Brock held on fiercely but, seeing that she was winning this desperate tug-of-war, he released his grip on the railing so that he could hold onto it with both hands, pulling it away from her with the full weight of his body.

As they each struggled to gain the upper hand, Rose caught a glimpse of a fin in the water behind the boat. It was almost as though Jack had signaled to her, she thought. Suddenly, she let go of the necklace with a short laugh. Brock's face only registered surprise as he felt himself falling backwards with nothing to stop him from entering the water, still clutching the diamond.

As he crashed into the shark-infested waters, Rose watched in satisfaction as the hungry beasts of the deep converged on the greedy man. When the thrashing waters had stilled and the dark stain on the sea had dissipated into the silent blackness of the night, she slipped back silently to her room and drifted off into a peaceful sleep, filled with dreams of her friends welcoming her back to the Titanic, as her weary body entered its eternal rest.
