April Freaks Day, Part 1

I think this would take place somewhere in the second book, but it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the main storyline. I just wanted to write it because I thought it would be interesting. This story should finish by the end of April.

Evra POV

I love sleeping. It's just so great to be able to get away from life and not have to worry about anything until you woke up. Usually, I'm pretty mad when someone wakes me up for no good reason, but this morning, things were a little different.

"Evra! Wake up! Quick!"

My eyes snapped open and sat up. It was Darren. "What?" I sighed.

"Don't move," He said. "You'll tick her off,"

What was Darren talking about?

"What the hell?!" I screamed. Madam Octa was on me. I froze. "How did she get out of her cage?" I whispered to Darren.

Darren mouthed the words "I don't know". The spider crawled up my arm. I tried not to show my fear, I really did, but me and spiders have never really mixed. "Nice spider," I was trying to control my trembling, afraid that I would provoke her. "Please don't bite me,"

There was a quick flash of white light.

"Man, Evra you should have seen your face!" Darren laughed. "Priceless!"

I couldn't believe it. Darren was laughing and here I was scared to death. The spider jumped off of me and I got out of my hammock and marched over to Darren.

"Darren! What did you do that for?" I snatched the camera from him and looked at the picture he took of me. My face heated up. Had I honestly looked that frightened? I looked up at Darren. "Why would you do this to me?" I asked, hurt.

"Come on, Evra, I was only kidding around." He punched me lightly in the arm. "You know I wouldn't let her bite you."

"That's doesn't explain why you did that." I snarled.

"Do you know what today is?" Darren asked.

"It's the first of April. I don't see the big deal."

Darren sighed and shook his head. "You mean to tell me you've never heard of APRIL FOOLS DAY before?"

"No," I wasn't joking. I really hadn't.

"It's a day when you pull pranks and jokes on people." Darren smiled. "For fun. It's really great."

I frowned. "No it's not. They should call it 'Give your best friend a heart attack' day. I'm going back to sleep."

I started to walk back over to my hammock.

"Evra," Darren groaned. "Don't you get it? I need you're help."

I stopped and faced him. "Why? What could you possibly need me for except for your own personal entertainment?"

"Well," Darren paused. He came over to me and whispered in my ear. "I want to pull a prank on Mr. Crepsley and it'll be a two-man job."

"What are you going to do?" I asked.

He told me. I was surprised at how thought out and planned it was. "I don't know, Darren…"

"Come on, Ev, think about it. In and out and he won't know until he comes back." Darren put his arm around me. "And the best part is, he'll never know it was us!"

I sighed and nodded. "Alright, I'm in."

"Okay, I'll meet you outside of his place after he leaves for the night. I'll get the supplies."

Darren left and I crawled back into my hammock, thinking about tonight and our little plan.
