…
In Theramore Isle…
Damien managed to get himself out of bed with a deep yawn and looked around to get a grip on his senses. As soon as he did so, he went to the nearby sink and gladly took the pitcher of water that was nearby, poured a generous helping of water into the bowl and washed his face first. The cool water certainly helped him feel a lot better than before and he was now moving on to washing his hands.
Once he was done and the sleepiness wore off, he poured away the water and poured what was left of the cool and clean liquid into a nearby goblet and drank it. The cool water further awakened his senses and also served to moisten his throat and lips. That helped him as he opened the window to take a look outside of the Inn that he was current staying in, and that allowed him to smell the air once more. The smell of sea air was not too good on his sense of smell but the discomfort passed away fairly quickly.
He looked the place over and decided that he should go and grab something to eat once he was done with some stretching to really make sure that he was not going to be stiff. He did some simple stretches and also decided to lift some of the lighter furniture in his room, before moving to take his Family Sword and do some practice swings and thrusts, moving the sword from hand to hand and avoided hitting anything in his room.
He soon felt his body burn to life and a thin sheen of sweat on his forehead, arms, and body which was enough for him to stop in his actions. Once he did so, he wiped the sweat away and got his clothing and armor on. He hoped that he was going to get a chance to finally get to speak to his friends if Jaina was actually able to open a temporary portal to his reality.
…
In the dining area…
As he got into the dinning area, he was greeted by the sight of Callis working on her breakfast, which consisted of fresh fish that was cooked, several wild fruits, some steaming grains and what appeared to be some cold drink. The Night Elf archer seemed to be very calm at the moment and enjoying the peace, which was to be expected since there did not seem to be a lot of activity going on around her and in the Inn as well. He gave her a smile and a nod which she responded with a nod as well as he moved to sit down next to her.
"Had a good morning?"
Callis shook her head a bit at that and replied.
"The room was a little stuffy but I can manage, anyway, where's your Mabari?"
Damien gave a shrill whistle and soon enough, Cardos came into the hall and was apparently in a well rested and eager mood. The Innkeeper came in and the frown on his face was enough to tell the Grey Warden that Cardos had done something again to annoy the people. And he was right as he was soon spoken to by the man.
"You're hound was causing a bit of a racket you know sir. He decided to go into the larder and tried to eat some of the stored food we had there. One of my men tried to shoo him away and he tried to take his arm off! We tried to have him removed but since you were a guest of the Lady Jaina we could not do anything!"
Damien sighed and glared at Cardos, and instead of glaring right back as he had done to the Innkeeper and his people, the War Hound whined at the disapproval of his master.
"You are not going to have a full breakfast for that Cardos. How many times have I told you to wait for me so you don't get into trouble?"
Cardos whined sadly and gave the sad dog eyes and Damien sighed mentally but remained stern in front of his War Hound.
"Oh no, not this time Cardos, you will not be swaying me today after this stunt you just pulled off so bloody early in the morning. Now go over there and wait for me to bring you the food. Maybe next time you will not try something like this again."
The Mabari barked sullenly and moved to the side as it knew that it had displeased his master and Damien paid the Innkeeper for the trouble. It was not long before the food arrived for Damien, but he decided to get some large hunk of ham with the bone and moved to feed it to his War Hound. Cardos barked happily at the sight of the meat and waited patiently for his master.
Damien then spoke sternly to Cardos.
"You could have gotten a much larger breakfast had you been patient Cardos, for now this will be your breakfast AND lunch. That means you will not be having Lunch as punishment as well, so until you learn to be patient, you will not have a full and filling meal, do we understand one another?"
Cardos nodded seriously and Damien could tell that his War Hound got the message and he gave him the ham. Cardos wasted no time and was now eating away at his meal. The Warden came back to the table and was now eating his own food. The food for him was consisting of a roasted quail, a bowl of steaming soup, cooked vegetables, and a number of beef slices all properly cooked. Damien ate the food well and it was something that he was very happy for the chance to be full.
As both of them were done, Callis looked at Cardos who had finished all of the ham, bones and all as he moved to them. She smiled a bit at the War Hound and placed her hand on the head of the massive beast. Cardos yelped a bit happily and rubbed his muscled form on Callis's legs, much to her amusement and that of Damien himself as he spoke to Cardos.
"Oh sure, make friends with our fellow traveler and ally. Anyway, keep in mind you're not getting lunch for that stunt you pulled all right?"
Cardos barked and they were soon off from the Inn, Damien had the idea of going around the city to see just what this place had to offer. Not only that, he might even be able to observe just how the various races that called this place home acted. Seeing Elves being treated fairly and well by humans was a sight that he knew was going to look very alien back him in Fereldan. Elves freely lingering with humans and holding positions in business, military, and government would have been seen as a violation and was something that he personally found to be utterly foolish.
This was a product of his mother and father teaching him the values of temperance and justice, plus a part of him, a very small part wanted to make some peace with Iona, the Elven maidservant of his mother's friend who he admitted was very beautiful and kind. He liked her and had she not died in the attack on the Cousland estate, he would have treated her even more than just a passing acquaintance even though it would have been something of a scandal for a son of a noble family to be in a relationship with an Elf regardless of how attractive she was and how capable in many things.
As he looked about the city, he also noted the way that the guards moved about. They were well armed and trained which to him would have been a welcome sight. The guards back in Denerim were all the sons of nobles who did not even have an inkling of skill and were merely a bought and paid for decoration force. These men and women of all races were professional, well armed and well equipped, thus the kind of people you wanted to patrol the streets every day and every night.
As he moved through the place alongside Callis and Cardos, he moved to see the port and he could not help but smirk a bit as Cardos once more began to whine in protest at the sight of the ships that were there before him. Callis could not help but feel sorry for the massive beast and moved towards him and petted him gently on the head. The war Hound barked a bit in appreciation for the affection being given to him by the Sentinel. Damien sighed a bit in amusement and he decided to drop by Jaina to see if she was able to have the chance to do what she planned before.
He had his doubts that the Arch-mage could find the time to do this though he was not going to make snap judgments on the matter. As far as he had seen, magic here in this world was seen differently by those from his world and that could be either a good or bad thing. But right now the chance to finally be able to communicate to his friends was worth taking so at least he could assure them that he would be fine.
As he looked at the sea beyond Theramore Isle, he was made aware that he was being called, he turned and there was one of the male Theramore Isle Guards and he waited to see what was going on. The man walked over to him and then spoke with a tone of respect to him.
"Sir Damien, I have a message from lady Jaina, they have prepared the ceremony and the spell. She wanted me to inform you of it and also wanted me to also mention that she needs your help on making a more accurate idea on where the portal should be opened."
Damien nodded at that and soon he was joined by Callis and Cardos, the Night Elf was pleased somewhat by the news and he was as well. It was going to be a good chance to finally have a word with those of his world. And while he could not come back to his world, he was going to at least work on keeping tabs on his home and his people. With that in mind, he and the others headed to the Tower where Jaina was.
…
In the Tower…
"Okay…that should do it."
Jaina Proudmoore was making the last touches to the portal that she was going to conjure and direct to the land of Thedas in the region of Feralden. It was by far the most difficult plan she had come up with in all her knowledge since there was no mention of Thedas anywhere on the records. The old homeworld of the Orcs, Draenor was only found through the Dark Portal and the records left behind by the Orcs long ago, that was why the expedition led by Paladin Tularyon, High Elf Ranger Alleria, Khudran Wildhammer, and Migh Mage Khagdar even worked.
This land on the other hand was different all the same it had taken her quite some time to create the portal itself. All she needed now was to have Damien here to act as the guide to allow the portal to work. She could not send him back as it was beyond her current level of power to do so, all she could do was allow him to speak to those on the other side. But she had to be careful just where she was going to make the portal open. After learning all she could about Thedas from Damien she was not in the mood to suddenly discover that she had had accidentally opened a portal in the middle of a Templar enclave.
She then asked one of her land's guards to go and get Damien to come here to the Keep and they can now try and establish a link from Theramore to Thdeas.
As soon as he got there, Damien was quite pleased to learn that he may now have a chance to try and connect to those he cared for back in Thedas. Naturally however, he had to make sure that he was able to find the right person to contact. Not an easy feat since there was no telling where they were or how they were doing.
He would have wanted to contact Morrigan, but with no idea where she had gone ever since the end of the battle that ended the Archdemon, he would have no clue on where to find her. While Wynn was another choice, she would no doubt be too busy with work and with her…current condition, she was not exactly someone he did not want to stress out too much. Oghren…well being Ogrhen made him a bit too unpredictable to be called on, not to mention he was already a father as far as he knew. Lelianna was no doubt busy herself and while he was on very friendly terms with the Bard, he had a feeling that perhaps the Maker had other plans for his long time friend and she would be in the thick of it.
. Sten would be too busy with his fellow Qunari and he wished only the best for his long time friend. Zevran would still be busy dodging his fellow Antivan Crows though he hoped that the Elf kept his promise to help keep an eye on Alistair in the shadow…
That was the person he could contact, he only hoped he did not end up causing more trouble than what was needed. All he could hope for was that things back in his home were stabilizing after the Blight and that Alistair was holding the fort as it were. Even though Andraste herself told him of the fates of his friends, he still preferred to see things for himself so to be assured things were all right and that they were going to be fine without him being around. It was not as if he thought himself as powerful to his friends, but he had been in a sense like the glue to hold them together though he had no doubts about them being able on their own.
…
In Feralden…
The realm that was once Damien's home was still undergoing a great deal of rebuilding and healing, the Blight had taken quite a lot out of the populace and many of them were only focusing on trying their best to rebuild their shattered lives ever since the day the Blight began, villages and towns were being cleaned, and rebuilt while soldiers moved out to flush out any remaining Darkspawn that may have not left the surface. There was also intense work in fighting off bandits, and renegades who despite having survived the Blight still plagued the land and caused problems left and right.
It was undeniably a dreary mess for all to see, but at least the Blight, in a sense, and unified Feralden and the people were pleased in that their new King, Alistair hd worked tirelessly to repair all that he could of the kingdom. One decision that had grated on some of them was the calling a Grey Warden from the lands of Orlais as many of them still feared that the Orlesians would have made the move to come back to try and take over the kingdom in the current state it was in. Thankfully it seemed thet the Empress Celene was not keen on such a move just yet and was working on keeping the nobles from delving into the kingdom and that in itself was something of great relief to the people, both commoner and noble.
…
In the Royal chambers…
Alistair was busy reading more and more books, wearing his armor and carrying the sword that had seen him through so many battles, and Duncan's Shield on the side of his table. He looked at the halls before him and sighed a bit more as he knew that he was now alone in the castle…at least alone in the sense that those he had traveled with were not here in the castle. Wynne was currently overseeing matters in the Circle of Magi, Sten was back among his people, Lelianna was busy working on matters in the Chantry, Oghren…well he was busy getting drunk again and for good reason as he missed Damien and even Cardos though he vowed to make sure that he was not too drunk to forget his human friend. Zevran was busy working in the shadows, keeping him alert on anything that was going to transpire away from the court, and ready to help him if someone sent assassins to kill him and Anora. Shale no doubt was busy trying to kill as many birds as she/it could. And Morrigan…he had not heard of the witch for a very long time, sure he still did not like her, but he did admit her spells saved his neck more than once.
And as for him, he was working hard these past few months learning statecraft and politics, and for a very good reason, he recalled how Damien promised to be his personal chancellor after the difficulties they had and when he had been maneuvered to marry Anora by his long time friend. He was not the least bit happy at this as he felt that not only was Anora a better ruler for all the things she had done for the kingdom, being the driving force behind his bother, but because he wanted no part of it. He wanted to be free of his blood even though Damien always insisted that he was a man who could one day make a good king. That was why Damien vowed to help him in ruling the kingdom and keep him from being run roughshod by Anora.
But his friend was gone, killed in the last moment even though he said that he was not going to die easily and for that reason, Alistair dedicated himself to learning governance, economics, diplomacy and politics. He owed Damien for his faith in him despite his own dislike for the matter and he would be the kind of king that Damien believed him to be.
As he did so, he began to show a mettle and skill in politics that made even Anora look at him in surprise as he was maturing very quickly. As he recalled those things he sighed a bit more and he could not help but get up and head over to the nearby window and looked out over the city and the country side.
It was also at that moment that Anora came in and saw him as she spoke.
"Alistair, are you all right?"
Alistair turned and sighed a bit as he replied.
"Yes, just tired right now Anora, all of this reading is giving me a headache."
…
Anora could see that Alistair was not joking in the slightest, and she had to admit that it was quite a shock to see the man she disliked a great deal in the past become very much an ideal king. He still retained much of his former self, the fun loving, wise-cracking, cheese gorging young former Templar turned Grey warden turned King. But that was balanced now by revealing his inner intellect and wit in governance and politics. It had only been half a year since the end of the Fifth Blight and already he had become a very capable king. And in turn she began to grow a level of affection for him though it took some time for that to happen since she had disliked him due to him being seen as the rightful ruler due to his blood.
And she knew why…
Damien had been like a sibling and close advisor to Alistair in all that they had done as Grey Wardens, and had been the one who finally advised him to be the king…and take her as wife. And she knew for a fact that when that happened, Alistair was not too pleased by this. Both he and Damien nearly came to blows about it since Alistair did not like the idea of being king, feeling that he was trapped by being born with the blood of Calenhad. But she learned that Damien argued that even if he was born with that heritage and blood it still boiled down to being himself. Blood meant nothing if the man did not have the qualities to be a leader and he pointed out Alistair's compassion, understanding of the common people, moral strength, and his bravery were just as needed as being gifted in governance and politics. Those traits in Damien's mind made Alistair just as worthy as a king in his own right. He also insisted that Alistair not forget that King Arland had the same blood as he did, but turned out to be such a cruel tyrant that many were happy that he died, it was not blood that made him a king, it was himself, who he was as a man.
And most of all, the decisions that shaped him, good and bad, that was what would make him a true king.
…
Damien even assured Alistair afterwards that he would be his advisor and councilor if he needed him, to which Alistair was pleased to hear. And her current husband was double pleased to hear that Damien planned to make sure she did not run roughshod over him to which Alistair laughed. She had been angry in her heart about it, even more so since Damien killed her father, despite the fact that she knew that her father's obsession with Orleais being a greater threat than the Darkspawn was the reason it was that bad. And she worried that she would not be able to do her job as Queen as she would be locking horns with Damien.
But it seemed that her fears were unfounded, and in time, her dislike for Damien faded as she recalled Alistair telling her one day when she had been astonished by his growing skill in governance, that Damien gave his life believing he would make a great king in his own right so he would not dishonor Damien's death by not taking the job of being ruler seriously.
There was also the fact that despite being King, Alistair did not hesitate to listen to her advice when something came up that was too complex for him. Instead of being forced to be on the sidelines since she was now his Queen, Alistair did not stop her from ruling in all matters as he did, in fact it seemed that he had no intention of changing anything at all when it concerned leadership. And he explained that Damien actually felt that she had done so much for Feralden that he felt it would be better for everyone in the kingdom that Anora's actions and achievements not be removed or forgotten.
In fact the young Cousland youth had great respect for her and her actions as Queen despite her parentage not being of noble stock which was why he came up with the idea of having her marry Alistair in the first place. He had no intention of fighting with Anora unless she ran roughshod on Alistair and had hope that both she and Alistair would work together to bring an age of prosperity to the kingdom, balancing one another well as leaders.
He also respected Loghain her father and had been angry at his actions but did not like killing him, only doing so since Loghain had committed the crime of regicide and had willingly allowed civil war to happen when he should have fought the Blight despite his discovery of Cailen's plans. Something he confided to Alistair since he felt that if it was possible, he would have forgiven Loghain and allowed him to serve Feralden in order to battle the Blight, something that angered her husband when he heard it. But in her mind it made sense which served to surprise her of Damien's thoughts and actions.
Those were the reasons that her anger towards Damien faded and she wondered what would have happened had he lived instead of dying and what he had hoped would happen had happened.
And she silently admitted that when they finally decided to…make the action of being husband and wife, Alistair proved to be quite enduring and endearing. She had heard the stories of Grey Warden endurance of course but discounted it as mere tales, only to be proven wrong.
"You should rest for a while my King, you won't be able to do much if you start drooling half asleep when your advisors are speaking."
Alistair smiled at that and laughed a bit which made Anora curious.
"What's with the humor?"
"Nothing, I was just...remembering what it was like after we did the whole marriage thing, you used to glare at me and all and I swore that you would have willingly stuck me in the back with a knife if I looked at you wrong. Now you and me are getting along rather well and also…well you know what I mean, never thought that would happen."
The young and still beautiful queen of Fereldan could not help but smile a bit at that and replied.
"I suppose there's truth there, I used to think that I should do that actually, but over time…I guess I began to see just why Damien had such faith in you. And you have grown into a good ruler, so much so that even I have a hard time figuring out what's cooking in that head of yours."
Alistair actually looked sheepish and replied.
"Well, I did take some of my studies back in the Chantry seriously, and I did pay attention to some of the lessons."
Anora smiled a bit at that and replied.
"Good to know, anyway, now is the time to relax and get some rest, you do know that right?"
The former templar and Grey Warden nodded but any other reply hew was going to make was cut short as a strange eerie light filled the room. The very second that happened, both of them reached for weapons, Anora a dagger and Alistair drawing his sword and also his shield which he kept close by at all times.
They saw…well…it was NOT what they expected.
Instead of a Demon or some mages who came to attack them via portal and bringing guests…they witnessed a portal of sorts. Alistair moved forward carefully, keeping his shield in front of him with his sword ready to strike while Anora followed him with her dagger at the ready to strike if she had to even if shew had no training or experience as a Templar.
However, they got double the surprise when a figure they recognized appeared in the portal, along with the voice.
"Alistair? Is that you?"
"D-Damien?"
"Yeah…we need to talk."
…
To say Alistair was incredulous was an understatement as he looked at the portal to his friend and fellow Grey Warden while next to him, Anora was also frowning, trying no doubt to make some sense of what was it that she and her husband had just been told by the image of Damien Cousland whoi apparently had not onbly survived but had somehow been sent into another world and had only been able to contact them through magic from said world. Needless to say what the Grey Warden told his fellow warden and current King of Fereldan thought of all this could be described easily. Alistair felt like he was being told that the Darkspawn were the heroes and the Grey Wardens were the villains.
He spoke that fact out to Damien as well.
"Let me see if I got all of that right. You were actually SAVED by Andraste and the Maker himself, they dropped you off into this other world called…Aze…Aze…"
"Azeroth Alistair."
"Azeroth it is then, and they sent you there to deal with a rising threat in that land? You sure you have not been infected by bad lyrium or something Damien?"
Damien sighed and replied.
"Alistair, since when have I ever taken lyrium since I am not a Mage? And since when have I ever lied to you?"
"There was that time when you managed to convince me to try eating that bit of cheese which you had actually coated in hot sauce…"
"It was a joke."
Alistair snorted a bit but smiled as he and Anora looked at Damien and he knew that his friend would never lie to him. Sure he could lie like the best of them, but he never lied to his friends or those under his command. It might annoy Morrigan at times but they all respected his honesty and his dedication to not holding secrets that could be used against them. That was why he was someone Alistair trusted with his parentage and no doubt the others did confide their own secrets. After all, even if she was annoyed by it, Morrigan did fall in love with Damien even if she denied knowing or feeling love.
"So…there's no way for you to come back?"
"I wish there was Alistair, but after what I've seen, I think I can do more good here than there. I know I promised you that I will be your advisor, but after what I was just able to learn and see for myself I feel that you are already doing well enough on your own."
"I guess so, I owe it to you after all, and you were right, I am king and even if I feel I am merely cursed by blood, you always said that blood does not make me a king, it's me and me alone who makes me king. Besides, if anything comes up that I cannot handle, I can always ask Anora for advice on how to deal with it. My wife's advice certainly helped me out ever since you went missing after all."
Damien smiled and looked at Anora and spoke to her next.
"I apologize to what happened between you and I Queen Anora. I know that words cannot change the fact that it was my sword that ended your father Loghain's life, but I wish you to know that regardless of how I feel about it, he was a good man before…he allowed himself to be blinded by the past."
"No need, I have had time to think about many things ever since the Blight ended, and perhaps you were right in what you suggested and what you did. I know that I cannot remove the damage my father did, but at least you gave him an honorable death. Alistair told me about how you felt about both my father and me as well."
"He did? I see…I did respect your father my Queen and I did not like one bit having to fight him. But his actions…well that is in the past and I am at leas happy that you both are getting along well. I cannot remain on this spell for long so I will need to leave and I can only hope that I can one day see you all again. Good bye…"
"Wait!"
"What?"
"Listen…I…kind of sent people to look for Morrigan…namely Lelianna and she just told me that Morrigan's gone into hiding…I mean REALLY deep into hiding. But she did say that the last time she and Morrigan chatted, she was…well…"
"Pregnant? Yeah…let's just say it's a…personal matter Alistair."
Alistair nodded in agreement and replied.
"I know, and while I may not have a liking towards her, I respect the fact that you and her were there to help us win against the Blight…take care of yourself. We'll make sure that anyone who tries to look for Morrigan with ill intent, will not find her. I doubt she and I will ever see eye to eye, but she is your wife and bearing your child Damien, I will protect her as best I can…we all will."
Damien smiled at that and replied.
"You have my thanks Alistair, take care of yourself."
…
Theramore Isle…
As the spell faded, Damien could not help but sit down and take a deep breath to make sure he was able to recover. Seeing Alistair again and hearing news that Morrigan was alive and pregnant helped him a bit, but he did not feel at ease with the idea of Morrigan delivering their baby all alone by herself. It was something that he felt was utterly wrong to the convention of family, even if Morrigan was completely against the idea of having him nearby. Still all he could hope for was that the others would keep Morrigan safe along with their child. He would love her deeply and never forget her for as long as he drew breath…but now he had to focus on the matter that brought him here to begin with.
He looked to see Jaina looked at him with some level of concern since he had not said a word after the spell had faded away. He knew that she was worried and shook his head while giving a slight smile to her..
"I'm all right."
Jaina could tell that it was a front but chose not to pry any further. Bu that did not mean that she was not going to try to at least to console the man as best she could for not being able to provide him a means to go home.
"I am sorry I cannot send you back home, but if you're coming here was part of a plan, then I doubt that even with my powers I can persuade things to change. I will however help you as best I can so that whatever goal you have been sent here to accomplish is much closer to your grasp."
Damien could see that Jaina was sincere with him and he was thankful for that and he replied.
"Thank you Lady Jaina, it's been a trying day but at least knowing my home is recovering for now is enough to buoy my spirits now. So now I have to work on making my way through the rest of the land before going to seeing who else can be found here in this world that I am in. Do you happen to have some ideas on where I can get the most chances?"
Jaina thought on that matter carefully to make sure that she was not going to send Damien into a dangerous situation. So far Damien had proven himself to be a good man and very capable when it came to doing whatever he felt is needed but without compromising himself, which was a feat in itself since she knew how hard it was to stay true to a certain path. When she had first met Thrall all those years ago, the hostility between Orcs and Humans was still pretty fresh and even when she heard stories of Thrall's actions towards humans, she was not exactly vey trusting of the Warchief of the Horde. But over time they had begun to see the need of working together for
And she decided to send him to a place that could be a good start.
"I recommend going to the Dwarven Capital City of Ironforge first. They have a transportation system to the city of Stormwind and I know that the King Magni Bronzebeard will be willing to help you out once I send him a message. They also happen to have a number mages among their ranks who can help you if you can earn their trust. And their Priests would be a valuable addition to you from those who wish to join."
Damien raised his eyebrow somewhat and for good reason, the idea of Dwarves being able to cast magic was something that further reinforced to him the differences between this land of Azeroth and Thedas. No Dwarf as far as he knew could ever be a Mage of any kind back home, in fact the likelihood of finding a Dwarven Mage in Thedas was about as likely as finding a descendant of Andraste in the Tevinter Imperium. Still he decided not to comment on that until later. For now he had a destination and he could start from there. Going back to Darnassus was optional to restock for supplies, but so far being in Theramore was a better option since it was a good place for trade for both the Alliance and the Horde.
"All right, I can accept that but I take it that the whole thing will take time?"
"That is correct, sending a message to Magni through magic is not that hard a thing to do, but organizing a ship or other form of transportation may take some time."
"All right, I might as well make myself useful while here in your lands Lady Jaina."
Jaina nodded and briefly smiled at the way Damien acted as he went out to try and find some manner of work that could be productive to his time here until he could go to Ironforge. Her time among the nobility made her respect those who were willing to get their hands dirty to do things themselves and not be overtly reliant on servants and footmen. This was one of the reasons why many renegade nobles from the now fallen nation of Alterac had extreme difficulty in adjusting to a life without privileges. On her side of the equation as it were, she had already plenty of experience doing things on her own as a Archmage so she had no reason to complain when in the field.
She soon got to work on arranging transport for Damien to Ironforge and also made sure to send a message to Magni in order to assure him that the new guest was good company and not a danger to the Dwarves of Ironforge.
As for Damien, all that he learned from Alistair was still with him and now he had to focus on making good his mission in Azeroth. All he could hope for at least is that it worked and he was able to do what was asked f him while he was here in this world. But like before, he could not help but feel saddened by the fact that Morrigan was not with him. Despite how they met and her nature, he was still in love with her and while he was attracted to the women here as any man would, it was not that easy to forget her. Part of him wished she was still here as despite her powers and abilities, she was still with child and nothing made him feel more angry than knowing that she was alone and with child…their child regardless of how their child was conceived.
All he could hope for in that front was that Alistair and the others would indeed protect Morrigan from those who would harm her and their child.

Author's Notes:
Well, the latest chapter for this story, sorry for so long but after everything and the demands in real life and here…plus a whole string of creative PMs…I got this one over and done with.
Not too long but I figured trying to do more with less is at times a good approach.
Now on to some matters that were handed down to me before I went dead on this story for a time due to said complications…damn rat on the roof…making a hell of a racket, doing who knows what…Oh, right!
On the topic of Morrigan, I have decided to try and bring her into the WOW world alongside the baby with Damien so they can be reunited.
Now I know this is literally spitting in the face of Dragon Age in terms of canon lore, but this is my story so I get to do what I like. I plan to have Morrigan retain most of her magic and have some new ones as well, and the same can be said for their soon to be born little tyke. Morrigan will have to get used to being in this world and all the denizens here, but she will be able to do so, I mean prior to her arrival she's a pregnant woman who has magical powers and hiding in the Wilds where there may be Templars who might decide to kill her, unaware that she is the wife of the Hero of Fereldan…not that they care for that.
Not too sure about how to present her but I will try to tie it in with the DLC Witch Hunt and when she arrives there, Damien fill finally sense her presence and seek her out. Thus they would be reunited and who knows what that might lead to. She will be a little OOC but let's face it, she is pregnant, thought her beloved was dead even with the ritual to save his life, but then finds out that he still lives and they are together. She will learn some new powers and might be able to hybridize some of her powers.
For the benefit of the people here, when I played my game of Dragon Age, my Morrigan was a Shapeshifter/Spirit Healer/Arcane Warrior so she will be this and will be given some manner of protection for herself and the baby. What role will she have with what Damien will do in Azeroth apart from his wife? Wait and see.
The second issue is possibly the pairing bit and I can honestly say that while the Night Elf idea was tempting, I figured that it would have to be placed aside and allow Morrigan back. I loved her character in DAO so I wanted her to be there in this fic again. So this means that if anyone was expecting a romance with my Night Elf character and the Warden, it may no longer happen.
However…I am NOT adverse to suggestions from you all on that topic.
Same thing if anyone starts asking if I plan to pair Damien with say Jaina, tempting as it was to me, I figured that will be up to you the readers.
Anyhow, that should be enough for now and I will be back on this later, my lore knowledge on Dragon Age has to be refreshed and the same could be said for World of Warcraft. Now I move to the rest of my non Halo stories. It will not be very easy to be sure, but it is worth the effort in my mind. People complain I take too long and they are right, but hard work is not something you rush otherwise it bites you right in the nuts when you least expect it.
