Sirius walked down the stairs into the Common Room, quiet sobs reached his ears. It was one of the only times that he would've been caught without his friends. He walked hesitantly towards the sobs, seeing a white-blonde head of hair sitting in a chair facing the fire, her head in her hands and her hair falling around her face as her bock shook.
"Er… Livingston?" Sirius asked, recognizing the blonde head of hair. Her small frame stopped shaking
"What do you want, Black?" Ashe asked harshly, the effect ruined as her voice cracked at the end, sending her into another fit of sobs.
"Er… do you want me to get Evans?" Sirius asked her, referring to her best friend. She shook her head powerfully.
"No." she whispered, afraid that if she spoke any louder her voice would crack again. She pulled her knees up into her chest, wrapping her arms around her knees as she buried her face again.
"Do something or leave, don't just fucking stand there." Ashe snapped at him, catching him my surprise. The only time that he has ever heard her curse is when she called her and James 'fucking idiots' in fifth year after they hung Snivellus in the air and he called Lily the M-word.
"I don't exactly know what to do." Sirius muttered, not meaning for her to hear as he raked his hands through his hair, something he only did when he was really confused.
"Not stand there?" Ashe murmured sarcastically. He then sat down next to her, patting her back awkwardly.
"Can I have a actual hug, not a pat on the back?" Ashe asked him, and he wrapped both arms around her almost automatically, as if the muscles in his body were just waiting for her O.K. He was very awkward as she just sat there in his lap, stiff as a board. Then she relaxed and pressed her face into where his head met his shoulder, and he felt a wetness. She was crying.
"Er… Livingston?" He whispered into her ear.
"What?" She muttered.
"Why are you crying, anyways?" She didn't answer with words, instead she opened the palm of her right hand to reveal a very crumpled letter. He took the letter out of her hand, uncrumpled it and skimmed it quickly. He was shocked at the information; her parents were murdered.
"Ashe-I-uh-" He muttered, not knowing what to say because he knew how close she was to her parents.
"You called me Ashe." Ashe told him after he was done crying. Her eyes were red and her voice was hoarse, but it still held a hint of satisfactory, triumph, and smugness.
"What? No I didn't, Livingston."
"Yes you did." Ashe said tauntingly, hopping up from his lap. He felt cold without her in his lap, and frowned slightly.
"I think you're going insane, Livingston." Sirius told her, standing up. He easily toward over her, seeing as she was only about 5'4 and he was around 6'3.
"If that's what you want to believe, Sirius." Ashe said with the slightest hint of a smirk as she turned around and began to walk towards the girls dormitory's. Sirius clasped her hand and pulled, spinning her around and pressing her body against his.
"No, I'd much rather if you weren't insane, Ashe." Sirius said, pressing his lips against hers lightly, and she wrapped her thin arms around his neck in an attempt to get closer to him. He pulled away from her, his arms finding a way to snake around her waist, her arms still around his neck, the two breathing slightly heavier. Their foreheads leaned against the others.
"I'd rather I wasn't insane, also."
