Hello! I was surfing through the Harry Potter forums and came across the 'This or That?' game. I'd been wanting to start a little 'slices of life' collection for a while, and this is it...er, well...the start of it.
Disclaimer: I do not own Assassin's Creed, or anything associated with it. I am doing this because it makes me happy.
"Blue or green?"
Shaun looked up from his papers in confusion, fixing his gaze on Desmond.
"What?" he asked rudely.
"Blue or green?" Desmond repeated casually, moving to place his coffee on the counter where Shaun sat, "It's a simple question. Which one do you prefer?"
Shaun didn't answer. He continued to stare at the assassin in complete befuddlement. Why in the bleeding hell would the boy ask him such a stupid question? What gave him the idea that he would grace him with an answer?
He considered staying silent and going back to work, but the calm contentment that Desmond was treating the situation with was overbearing.
"Why the fuck do you want to know?" he burst out, staring intently at the other man, who was peering into the depths of his mug.
"Haven't you ever heard of the game 'This or That'?" he finally looked up, staring at Shaun in an infuriatingly relaxed manner.
"No, I have never bloody well heard of the game 'This or That'!" Shaun snarled, flailing his arms wildly.
"Just choose."
Shaun blinked.
"What?"
"Just choose: blue or green?"
Shaun fumed at him silently for a moment, irritated when he didn't look away. He tried to turn back to his papers, but it was impossible now. He read the same sentence three times, not really absorbing it, before finally looking back up at Desmond. The assassin had apparently moved on, reading the side of the cream container in boredom.
"Blue." The computer geek bit out, as though the word burnt him.
A long silence passed. It was thick with an expectant tension. God, Miles was infuriatingly hard to ignore…
"Coffee or tea?"
The corner of Desmond's mouth quirked up as he heard the question, but he didn't look away from the cream.
"Tea," he said, grimacing slightly at his mug, "Sugar or Splenda?"
"Sugar," Shaun said, not missing a beat. He was still looking at Desmond, "Rain or snow?"
Desmond finally looked at him, his eyes glittering with unspoken delight.
"Snow. White or dark chocolate?"
"Dark. Sweets or fruit?"
"Sweets," Desmond said with a childish grin, "Silk or satin?"
"…silk. Romance or horror?"
"Romance," the assassin paused for a moment, raising his cup to take a sip. He regarded Shaun over the rim carefully.
"Me or boring database work?" he asked.
Shaun looked down pointedly at his papers, before looking back at the assassin, his right eyebrow raised in a silent question.
"You."
Desmond's response was a goofy grin and a chuckle.
Hope that was okay. Review and leave a prompt…something you'd like to see, or always wondered about. I like ideas. :) I also like cliches and cheesiness, in case you couldn't tell :P
