Disclaimer: i dont own doctor who, or john smith, or jack harkness, or john barrowman (damn) or any writing in italics all that is from A Journal Of Impossible Things, which is owned by.... oh... cant remember his name... sorry mate... its owned by the guy who wrote it. :)

I'm travelling with a captain in the military,

He starts to draw on the next page, a man with sparkling blue eyes and a lantern jaw, wearing a military coat.

only he is not what he seems,

Johns hand freezes, the man is clearly not in The War, but in another one, equally as horrible.

and so I leave him behind after a battle,

yet again, another war, but this one up in the stars, one which plays Games with its victims.

and he is stranded in no man's land,

he ran, ran from his friend because of a feeling?

so alone

he doesn't draw the man with his normal cheeky grin, but a look of hurt, of betrayal

and so far away from home.

John stops and just looks at the picture, before closing the leather bound journal, and going to his class.
