Black Hayate stared at the door. There had been loud groaning and strange noises coming from it all night. He guessed it was from the man coming. Everyone called him Colonel but his master sometimes called him Roy.
He barked. It was loud enough for them to hear, he had no doubt. But still the door remained inanimate. He barked again and again, until his throat was sore. But he couldn't sooth his throat because his bowl was empty, as was his food dish.
He whined and growled, pouncing on the door and scratching it like he had been taught if there was an 'enemy'. The door had gouges down its side but still no
He sat and stared resolutely at the door handle, willing it to turn. He was about to go to his bed when, to his surprise, the door handle did turn and the door opened. Mr Colonel came out in only boxers, shutting the door behind him.
Hayate didn't understand the human need for clothes. Then again it seems humans didn't understand the canine need for food and water.
Roy patted Hayates head and grinned ,"Don't be surprised if your master doesn't get up for a bit," He said enigmatically, smiling all the while.
He gathered his clothes from where they lay scattered across the floor from previous night. Soon he was fully clothed.
He gave Hayate one more pat and left. Hayate was once more on his own. He glanced at his empty food bowl on more time and growled. Back to attacking the door.
