The next morning C.C. was in the office doing some research on Tad. More specifically she was compiling a list of all girl friends and female acquaintances she could find. While it was possible she was the first woman he got that far out of control with it was more than likely there were others.

She sat back in her chair and sighed. Her whole body ached and her white shoulder was beginning to protest so much use of her arm. Glancing at the clocked she realized she was due for another dose of pain meds which meant she should be seeing Niles any moment.

She smiled thinking about the pills and bottle of water he had left for her on the bedside table. She was grateful for it when she woke up. She shook her head to bring herself back to the present and looked down at the note pad on the desk.

A small shudder ran through her body as she thought about the phone call she received earlier that day. Detective Bonasera had called to say that Tad had been arraigned and was out on bail with his passport having been revoked. She also informed C.C. the trial had been expedited and was put on the calendar for next month. After the call C.C. had excused her self to the office to be alone.

C.C. leaned back in the chair with a soft groan. She really would rather be resting but she knew she had limited time to find someone to back her up. Just then there was a light knock on the door followed by a "Miss Babcock".

"Come in Niles," C.C. trying to hide the smile threatening to show on her face. Just as I predicted.

"I brought you some pain medication a soup for lunch." he said setting the tray on the table.

"Thank you Niles," she replied.

"You look like you could use some rest," he said.

"You look like something the cat dragged in and you don't hear me complaining," she replied.

"I simply mean that you looked a little tired. You have been though quite a lot."

"Hmmm," she nodded. "I was actually just thinking the same thing. I may retire to my room for a bit after lunch."

Niles nodded his agreement. As he turned to leave the room she caught sight of his wrapped hand.

"Niles," she called. "Why did you punch a wall last night?"

He stopped and turned back toward C.C. "Contrary to popular belief I do care." With that he turned and quickly left the office leaving C.C. stunned once again.
