Ok, this only the second time I've written Itachi and Kisame so I do apologise if they seem in any way OOC *bows low*. I came up with this idea whilst I was walking to the train station one very cold morning and without my hat. I ended up writing it on the train.

Summary: It's not nice when you leave your hat at home.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. Itachi and Kisame are copyright to Masashi Kishimoto.

One last thing, this is not yaoi but it is a one-shot. Enjoy!

------------

It was dark and windy and very cold, and it was when the wind started to pick up a few minutes before that Itachi started to regret leaving his hat behind. He sniffed in an attempt to stop his nose from running but made sure not to be too loud in case the only other being present heard him.

Said other being walked in silence beside him and although he could hear the Uchiha, Kisame made no indication that he did, choosing only to listen.

Seconds passed and Itachi could feel his finger tips starting to go numb with the cold. He sniffed again and then took an involuntary sharp intake of breath followed by another and then "Achoo!"

The sound was small and muffled but didn't escape the attention of his blue-skinned companion. Itachi could almost feel the amused smirk on Kisame's face but chose to ignore it.

Once again, silence rained only to be broken by another gasp from the Uchiha, followed by another muffled "Achoo!"

Kisame regarded his smaller partner from the corner of his eye and could see that the younger nin's ears had turned red from the wind. He sighed, all hints of amusement gone as he brought his hand up to grasp the rim of his own hat. Slowly, he removed it and, without sparing a glance, placed it on top of Itachi's head.

Itachi's gaze shifted to look at what he could see of Kisame from under the massive hat before returning to the ground again.

Minutes passed in silence with the only sound being the occasional muffled sneeze or sniff, until "... Thank you."

Kisame's eyes moved to rest on his younger partner before returning to the ground and closing, a slight smile on his face. "Any time."

I know it's a bit short but please review so I know what you think of it. It has been proof read and spell-checked but if you find any mistakes, feel free to let me know. Thank you! =^-^=
