Hey ho. Something a little different today. It came from many different thought processes melding into one.
See, the first was that all Duel Monster cards came from one of the kas from Ye Olde Egypte.
The second was that Kuriboh is a Duel Monster card with some very weird special abilities and usages.
The third was that if Kuriboh was ever a ka, he was probably thought up by a small child.
The fourth was that Kuriboh probably would've been made up by Yugi if he'd ever been an Egyptian. But he never was, so Mana is the next best thing.
The fifth was mildly unrelated, in that Yugi is a lot like Kuriboh (small, seemingly very weak, surprisingly very useful).
And the sixth made this story.
I don't know the real age differences of Mahado and Mana, so I just made it up. Let's say in this story, Mana is four or five, and Mahado is 10ish. Please correct me if that's completely wrong, but otherwise ignore it.
"Mana, please, give me back the Ring."
"No!"
Mahado watched helplessly as Mana jumped onto a higher roof, giggling at her naughtiness. Next to her floated a...well, he wasn't quite sure what to call that. It looked a bit like a ball of fur with eyes. He supposed it might be a ka, but that concept wasn't pleasant to think of. No matter how many times Mahado was allowed to touch the Millennium Ring, he'd never been able to make a ka come out. The fact that Mana, someone a good many years younger than him, was better than him at anything aggravated him to no end.
"Please, Mana, you're going to get me in so much trouble," Mahado pleaded.
"I don't care! If I give it back, Kuriboh will diss'pear!" Mana retorted, trying her best at a serious face; she ruined it with a giggle.
"Well, that's okay, 'cause Kriboh-"
"Ku-ri-boh! Say it right!"
"Okay, Kuriboh has to be really weak, so it doesn't mat-"
"Kuriboh's not weak Mahado! You're really mean!"
"Sorry, but it's just a ball of fur!"
"Yeah, but…whenever you touch him, he 'plodes! And…and…" she struggled momentarily to think of something else, "…anytime he gets threatened, there's more of him!" Mana nodded with satisfaction; she didn't think it was possible for anything to beat the made-up powers of Kuriboh.
"That's not even possible Mana," Mahado sighed. In all reality he didn't know (kas were weird things, and he was far from understanding everything about them), but he really did need the Ring back. His teachers had entrusted it to him, and if Mana happened to drop it….
"Yes it is 'cause Kuriboh can stand up agains' anythin'!" Mana shot back. The ball of fur swelled (literally) with pride, celebrating with a loop-de-loop in the air. Mahado rolled his eyes.
"Well, can he stand up against the gods?" he challenged, confident Mana couldn't come up with a comeback for that. Even she ought to know nothing could stand up to them. So he thought, anyway.
"Yes! You're just jealous!" Mana giggled. With victory in hand she jumped into one of the nearby windows with Kuriboh close behind. The Millenium Ring was still around her neck.
Mahado heaved a sigh before dashing back inside himself in hopes of catching up to his friend. He swore to Ra that kid was going to be the death of him.
Before I let you go, please picture it in your mind: Kuriboh vs. a god card. xDDDDDDDDDD
