Back Road to the Right

Have you ever just woken up in the morning, a light mist of the window and grass, soft light filtering in between curtains, the warm aroma of coffee and bacon cooking in the kitchen? Have you ever laid there in bed, wrapped up in clean, lavender smelling sheets and smiled while listening to plates and cups clattering softly, the shuffle of stocking feet on worn floor boards and slight creak of the bed room door opening just enough to allow a gently falling fringe of cocoa colored hair and shimmering green eyes over a lightly upturned smile and tender 'good morning' to waif around you, embrace you in it's normalcy and caring?
Or when those same stocking feet pad over on long pale legs and a slightly knobby elbow nudges you over to the edge of the bed enough for them to scoot in next to you, delicate fingers smoothing your sleep mused hair out of your eyes, tucking them carefully behind your ear, a teasing tug on long bangs to pull you in close for a tender kiss against your temple, your name murmured against your cheek as they curl up next to you, nuzzling your neck like a big cat. When you smile just because their heartbeat is louder in your ears than anything else in the quiet of the morning?
"There's bacon and coffee on the table." Hakkai murmured softly, eyes fluttering shut sleepily.
"I think they can wait; I'm still a bit tired. How about you?" Gojyo smiles at the contented purr that escapes soft lips, leaning down to ghost a feather light kiss across them, stifling a chuckle as he pulls away and licks his lips.
"No fair, you've already had a piece." He accuses amused.
Hakkai grins sheepishly as he settles deeper into the bed, an arm over Gojyo's waist and his head tucked under Gojyo's chin, "Well, I had to make sure it was cooked all the way, didn't I?"
Laughing softly, unwilling to break the quiet peacefulness of the morning he tangles his fingers into the dark hair at the back of Hakkai's neck and grumbles, "Yeah, yeah, I see where I rank on your priorities…you and your precious bacon."
Hakkai giggles and presses a soft kiss to his collarbone, "Yes, right above rampaging youkai and under bacon and don't you forget it!"
Groaning at the bad joke he pulls the blanket over their heads and shuts out the world for a few more minutes. If he's learned nothing after all these years it's that the only thing better than waking up to Hakkai's coffee, is waking up to coffee with Hakkai in his arms.
He's rather pleased with that understanding…especially when he gets to steal more bacon.
