There was a boy on the street, who would stand outside during operas, hoping to hear the music, or catch a glimpse of the men and women dressed up for show. Sometimes when he found a certain scene particularly dull, he'd escape to the roof and watch this boy. A young man. So excited to see the opera, hear the opera...

The Phantom climbed down with much ease and stood a few feet from him, watching him. The boy looked over and jumped. "I didn't see you walk up."

The Phantom circled him, smiling, "I know."

"Where did you come from?" the boy gulped.

"Above."

"Are you... some sort of angel?"

The Phantom smiled wider, expression mixed with amusement, and bitterness. "Some say that I am."

"Are you?"

He ignored the question, "Would you like to see the opera, up close?"

The boy nodded eagerly, "Very much!"

The Phantom drew him close, "Close your eyes." After the boy obeyed he whisked him up the side of the building. He led the boy through the darkness to his box, gesturing to the chair waiting for him. The boy smiled and sat.

And there the Phantom found the excitement and love of the opera he'd forgotten, and the music of the night he'd lost the tune to somewhere along the way.
