Progress

Disclaimer: I don't own Crescent Moon.

Summary: (Drabble) It might not seem like a big deal to others, but it was in her eyes.

A/N: So I have no idea where this came from. It's almost five in the morning where I'm at and I just opened a Word doc and started typing. Not much to say except it takes place before all the angst in book 4. Enjoy.

He didn't mean to make her cry. Really. For once, his sarcastic comments weren't meant to hurt her. He was just trying to be funny. Obviously, it had backfired in the worst way possible.

Heaving a sigh, he knocked on her bedroom door. "Can I come in?"

There was some shuffling, then the door cracked open just enough to poke her head out. "What do you want?" she asked with a sniffle.

He inwardly groaned. She'd definitely been crying, her red eyes evidence to that. "I just…I wanted to apologize. I didn't mean what I said."

Another sniffle. "Really?"

"Yeah, really."

She smiled then, a bright beautiful smile that made him feel weird. Kind of lightheaded and queasy at the same time. He should probably lie down.

"Thank you, Mitsuru. And I'm sorry I threw that pillow at you."

He shrugged, he didn't even remember that part of their fight. "S'okay." He backed away slowly, heading in the direction of his room. "Well, um…I guess…bye, princess."

Mahiru chuckled quietly at the boy's awkward exit. They were making progress, and maybe one day, he might actually call her by name.

A/N: I wish I could write so easily for things I actually need to write. Gah! That's inspiration for ya, comes at the weirdest times and not always when you need it. I hope you liked it and leave a review, please!
