Chapter 53: The Final Battle

The rhythm of Hitsugaya's heart beat is fast as it pounds hard against his chest.

His eyes have now transitioned to translucent as he now repeats his question…"WHERE IS HUI …. WHERE is MY WIFE?"

Ichigo is bent over fighting hard to control his anger, fear and Hichigo who after hearing Karin is in danger is full of anger, screaming in his head while trying to take control of him so he can go and look for her.

Hinamori and Matsumoto run stand with their Taichos trying to calm them both saying, "Taicho we will find them please calm down….

Matsumoto pulls her cell phone and calls HUI.

Across town Hui is in spiritual form.

He stood in front a medium level hollow trying to protect a screaming Kimiko who is looking down at the bodies of Jaen and Karin, believing that they had suddenly dropped dead before her.

Seeing the humans starting to gather around the bodies, Hui quickly dispatches the hollow, runs to Karin's body and pushes a soul pill, called Shina into her body.

As Karin's body starts to show life, the humans now stand trying to work on Jaen's body while Shina tries to calm Kimiko.

Hui looks at his cell phone as it rings, drops his head and answers …..

What happened

Matsumoto's voice lightens up as she says, "Hui where are you …where is Akrina Sama."

Before he could respond Hitsugaya has taken Matsumoto's cell saying, "WHERE IS MY WIFE?"

Hui sighs, then replies saying, "Taicho, a hollow appeared and Kuchiki Sama used the soul glove releasing his and Akrina Sama's soul from their bodies then push the bodies and the human Kimiko San in its path,"

Hui looks at his cell phone then starts to break down, his voice turns emotional as he says, "…then Akrina Sama…she said.."

Before he could finish Hitsugaya, in a soft voice said, "I know she ordered you to save Kimiko Sama."

Hui is now in tears as he replies, "Yes Taicho"

Hui trying to put himself together puts his hand into his pocket.

His hands suddenly grasp the small package she gave him.

Remembering what Akrina told him, he says in an excited voice, "Taicho, .before Akrina Sama left to have tea with Kimiko San; she gave a small package saying if something happened to give this package to you and you would know what to do."

Hitsugaya replies saying, "I have found your location, we are in route."

Hui's reaction

Hui stands waiting for His Taicho and the others to arrive, he is holding the small package that she gave to him thinking of the words she said to him, "IF anything happens give this to your Taicho, he will know what to do"

Hui exhales praying that whatever Akrina Sama put into this package, it would in deed help to locate her.

He thinks back to when Akrina Sama sent him the letter stating the terms for which he would work for her.

She spelled out that he worked for her and in order for him to stay be her side; he could share information about her doings but only after obtaining her permission.

So when her health status changed, he no choice but to stand by her and no let anyone especially his Taicho know.

Today from watching her on the train, he knew she was weak, but she wanted to see her friend Kimiko.

Hui drops his head as he thinks about Akrina Sama's phone conversations with Kimiko.

Over the last few months, these conversations helped Akrina Sama with her loneness so when today she said she was going to have tea with her friend, he did not argue with her, because he knew it was important for her to see Kimiko Chan before returning to Seireitei, and Hiyori Chan would be there to watch over her.

Hui now works hard to control his emotions which are now turning to anger, he shakes his head thinking, 'never in his wildness dreams would he think that Jaen Kuchiki would stoop so low as to find Kimiko and become romantically involve with the woman in order to get close to Akrina.'

He looks up to the sky.

He feels not only his Taicho's strong reisatu but others quickly approaching.

He whispers, "Please Hurry …and save her"

The final confrontation

The portal opens and Jaen steps out dragging Akrina Sama behind him.

Once they clear the portal, Akrina jerks herself free from his grasp, pulls her cloak tightly around herself and stands with her head held high glaring at him.

He arrogantly looks her over, then mocks her by grabbing her hand kissing it while bowing saying, "Akrina Sama, I have miss you."

She pulls her hand back, then balls her fist hitting him in the eye while saying, "Jaen, you cold hearted bastard! How could you use Kimiko like that!?"

He laughs as he rubs his eye, saying, "You are soft, at time when you should be begging for your life you are worrying about that stupid human girl."

Her amber and ebony eyes are cold as she stares at him, Shiba says to Karin, "We must stall this fool, giving our husband time to come and stand with us."

Karin looks to Shiba with eyes of uncertainty; Shiba looks at her saying, "what is it, why do you look like that?'

Karin sighed saying, "Our husband does not love us… he will not come."

Shiba is weak as she looks to Karin saying, "Kurosaki, now is not the time to be an insecure fool, he will come."

Before Karin could respond to Shiba, Jaen shouts, "You Shiba Bitch, I will kill you and throw your dead body at the door of the Shiba Manor..."

Her attention again focus on Jaen, she now watches has he pulls his zanputkou arrogantly saying, "I have accepted I will die, but I do so knowing that you will be dead and because your lover had forsaken you, there will no one to watch over your people, so they will once again turn away from the protection of the Gotei 13 and return lower class nobles."

Hearing his words, Karin's eyes turn amber/ebony, she clinks her bracelets together revealing her Zanputkou, Haburi Naka , saying with conviction in her voice, "your arrogance has made you foolishly ….."

She now takes her stance as she grins saying, "before calming victory, you must first figure out how after so many failures you will successfully kill me.'

Hearing her words, Jaen attacks….

Their Zanputkous clash with a loud sound of metal hitting metal.

Akrina's Package

Hitsugaya stands looking down at the small package, that Hui has just handed to him, he is surrounded by the Vizards, Ichigo, Matsumoto, Hinamori, Urahara and his father in law all who are curious as to what Akrina have left her husband and if it would help them find her.

He breathes deeply as he opens the package, to reveal a small pendant in the shape of a platinum Dragon head which is attached to a platinum chain. The beautiful design complements the necklace he had given her for her birthday over a year ago.

Everyone looks at the beautiful piece complimenting on its beauty.

Hitsugaya holds up the piece to get a better look at it and notices just behind the dragon head there a hinted vital attached filled with a glowing substance.

With a grin on his face carefully opens the vital and exhales the substance, his icy cold eyes suddenly soften.

Still holding the vital, he looks to his father in law; who looks at the vital then him saying, "My Son, we will stand with you but she is your wife this something you must do alone."

Hitsugaya, closes the vital, puts the necklace around his neck then quietly stands scanning for his wife.

Ichigo steps up and is about to say something only to have Shinji stop him, whispering, "He must stand with her, we cannot interfere..."

Hitsugaya's soft eyes suddenly turn cold as he says, "He has taken her to Seireitei just out beyond the Shiba Estate… she is battling..."

He calls forth the gate and they all vanish.

Sisters

While the alarms in Seireitei are sounding loudly, black butterflies flutter around the Gotei 13 officers saying, "ATTENTION…ATTENTION… Kuchiki Taicho, lead the 6th, 5th and 10th Divisions to the Shiba Estate Grounds and arrest Jaen Kuchiki and secure Akrina Sama."

Hearing the announcement Rukia, who is walking with Yuzu near the Shiba Manor Ponds, stops and concentrates on Jaen's resitua, she locates him, then turns to Yuzu who is talking to her guards saying, 'go back to the Manor…"

Before Yuzu could protest, Rukia looks to Yuzu' s guard saying, 'take the Shiba Princess back to the Manor and to her husband, and stay with them ensuring their safety"

Yuzu stands defiantly looking at Rukia saying, "I will not go to the manor and hide while Akrina fights for her life!"

Rukia looks to Yuzu saying, "I know you want to go to her, but we must make sure you are safe, if she knows you are safe, then she can fight and defeat him."

Yuzu looks at Rukia, saying, "You must be kept safe too, why are you going?"

Rukia exhales then looks at her saying, "The only reason why I am going to ensure our little prankster does not get in the way, the alarms are going off in the academy, so she must know by now… that Akrina is here and she will go to her without thinking."

Rukia hugs Yuzu, then whispers into her ear saying," Now... please go, so I can find Ami before she does something stupid… like get herself or Akrina killed"

Yuzu sighs then says, "Fine, but I will wait but for so long…. before I come looking you and our sisters."

Hearing Yuzu' s words, Rukia again turns to Yuzu' s guards, her eyes turn cold as she says, "keep her safe, because if you don't, I will kill you myself.."

Rukia then vanishes, followed closely by her own guards.

The Prankster

Overhearing the order for Kuchiki Taicho to lead the 5th, 6th and 10th division to the Shiba Manor to arrest Jaen Kuchiki and secure Akrina Sama, Ami turns to Boi who nods, and they both slip out of class unnoticed and into a hidden door which reveals a passageway that leads from the academy to the Shiba Estate grounds.

Meanwhile

Akrina has just blocked another of Jaen's attacks, as she pushes him away he swings his free hand striking her hard in the face.

The blow to her face has confused her and causes her to stumble backward.

As she stumbles backward Jaen shunpos behinds her and strikes her again, this time across her back causing her to fall forward.

Shiba screams, "Kurosaki, get control...before this fools kills us all."

Karin quickly plants her foot into the ground and catches her forward motion, causing Jaen, who was attempting to strike her with his Zanputkou to miss and then stumble.

As he stumbles in front of her, she side steps him, swinging her body around using her Zanputkou to cuts into his side, then kicks him into the dirt.

She quickly moves back, to a safe distance away from Jaen's striking range, while whispering to Shiba saying, "How are you holding up"

Shiba replies weakly saying, "Kurosaki, we must figure out how to kill this bastard quickly, if not, I will no longer have to power keep hidden what we wanted so desperately to remain a secret."

Karin, keeping her eyes on Jaen takes her stances then attacks.

At that same time…

Ami and Boi have emerged from the hidden passage which opened up behind a group of trees on the outskirts of the field where Akrina and Jaen are battling.

Ami looks to Boi and says with a frightening voice, "I must help My NeSana"

Before Boi could react, Ami has shunpo toward the battle.

As Boi follows Ami, members of the 5th, 6th, 10th and other divisions start to appear all quietly surrounding the battle which is taking place.

Boi's face starts to show manic as he watches as Ami pulls the blade her father had given her to protect herself from it sheath, and starts to attack Jaen.

Just as she starts to swing, Kuchiki Taicho appears and grabs her by the collar; on his face is a disapproving look.

With her firmly in his arms he Shunpos a safe distance away from the battle taking place.

Stalling for time

Karin's blade lands hard on Jaen's shoulder; She surprised that even though the wound she has inflicted bleeds heavily Jaen is not phased.

He counters with an attack which is much quicker than she expected, with his Zanputkou he strikes her shoulder and her leg, and then pushes her toward a tree.

As she falls toward the tree, she can hear Ami screaming, "Help my NeSana ...he is going to …"

Before Ami could finish her words, Akrina had stopped her body from hitting the tree and stands tall looking at Jaen, while replying to Ami's words with a stern voice saying, "None of you interfere …. If you do, I will demand your imprisonment...that goes for you to Ami Shiba!"

Shiba, screams, "Kurosaki stop playing…. He is dangerous, remember we have yet to see his Zanputkou releases...'

Karin replies," I am not playing; I must show some weakness in order for him to drop his guard and give us an opening."

Shiba replies in a weak voice saying, "We will need to stall him; we need our husband to stand with us!"

Hearing Shiba's weak voice, reminds Karin, that because Shiba is weak she cannot use her releases and just kill Jaen, she must kill him with her swordsmanship, and this causes her to be overcome with a feeling of fear and insecurity.

Shiba feeling Karin's fear and insecurity says, "Kurosaki now more than ever you must believe in him, as I do."

Karin takes a deep breath, quickly heals her arm and leg, while staying focused on Jaen.

Jaen who has been observing Akrina, says in an arrogant voice," I overheard Kimiko say you were ill and that was why you were returning home, it must be true."

Hearing his words everyone looks at Akrina with concerned eyes.

Jean starts swings his Zanputkou in the air, showing off his expertise while saying, 'It is a shame I so much want a good battle with you … to show everyone that I am the strongest of my clan ..I unlike my clan leader Byakuya Sama, I would defeat and kill a Vizard!"

Byakuya steps up; his reiatsu is released into the air, reflecting his rage.

Akrina, still keeping her eyes on Jaen says, "Kuchiki Taicho, I know you would like to deal with this man, and for that I thank you, but this something I as the Shiba Clan leader must do, so please stay calm and keep those around you calm."

Byakuya lowers his resitua and pulls back saying, "As you wish Akrina Sama"

It is then he attacked, his speed was great, if she was not weak she could have blocked the hits her body was taking.

She fell.

They all watched as Jaen stood arrogantly over Akrina, who now lay in a semiconscious state on the ground.

Suddenly out of nowhere Jaen is hit with a red blast, causing his body to be thrown across the field.

Pain of loving someone

Hitsugaya, with his cold eyes on Jaen stood protectively in front of his wife.

He glanced over his shoulder at her laying there on the ground and became angry.

His eyes turned intense as he now stared at Jaen, while keeping a calm voice says, "Karin. Shiba…. Are you… are you ok..."

Karin, is breathing deeply as she says, 'yes we are fine."

Keeping his eyes firmly on Jaen, his extends his hand back to her and in a soft loving voice saying, 'Come wife ...let's finish this, so we can live in peace with the family we dream of having."

Hearing his words Shiba weakly laughs saying, "I told you he would come… I told you he loves us"

Karin replies to Shiba saying, "yea...yea…"'

She looks up to her husband, takes his hand and starts to stand, on her face is a loving radiant smile.

Hitsugaya, takes his eyes off of Jaen and looks into his wife's eyes.

While Hitsugaya's looking at his wife, Jaen quickly pull a smaller version of the resitua absorbing gun from his Haroi screaming, "I will kill the witch in her lover's arms!"

He fires…

Hitsugaya quickly pulls Akrina protectively into his arms, even though the deadly beam hit him hard and causing excruciating pain, he smiled at her.

She tried to break his hold so she could protect him, but he held her firm; his eyes staring into hers as he whispered in her ear saying, "I promised I would protect you with my life...NO it is not because it is a job, it is because I love you ...I always loved you..."

He slumps into her arms in a state of semi-consciousness.

She stands in shock, trembling holding his limp body.

Tears fill her eyes as she starts to feel the warmth of his blood as it covers her hands.

Momo screams, "Whitey Chan!"

Matsumoto, Ami and the members of the 10th division screams, "TACHIO"

The 10th Division starts to attack Jaen, only to have Akrina, who is trying to maintain control of herself while she lays Hitsugaya' s body on the ground, Shouts, "STAY where you are….. I will not allow anyone else to be a victim of that weapon!"

Jaen, stands playing with the gun, trying to get it to recharge.

Akrina kisses Hitsugaya's lips, and then signals Matsumoto to come and take Hitsugaya to safety.

Akrina's face has no emotion as she watches, as the members of the 10th division take Hitsugaya' s body from the battle field, over to Unohana Taicho and the 4th division who are now standing watching intently.

Akrina now faces Jaen, as an emotional Shiba shouts in her head saying, "Kurosaki …our Husband is dying …..I can no longer hide our secret….. WE MUST and WILL KILL... this fool now!"

Her body starts to once again tremble, Akrina with tears streaming down her face, stares at her husband's blood on her hands, then replies to Shiba' emotional outburst saying only one word… "BANAKI"

Her Secret Revealed

As the words leave Akrina's lips, Yuzu and Jinta have arrived and now stand with Ichigo, Rukia, Ami, Boi, Isshin and the Shiba Nobles watching Akrina and Jaen.

Suddenly, everyone watches in amazement and shock as Akrina's body elevates into the air and a chilling thick icy fog suddenly appears from nowhere surrounding Akrina like a cocoon.

Within Seconds, the icy fog breaks from around her, and reveals the Shiba Clan leader and wife to the 10th Division Taicho in her new Banaki form.

Her black hair is now white, her white mask which once covered her whole face is only covers half of her face.

Her eyes are no longer amber, they are no longer amber and ebony.

They are amber, ebony and teal.

Her Zanputkou was, still Haburi Naka but its color had changed, and it was icy teal the same color as Hyourinmaru.

Her body is what has shocked everyone, her once flat stomach is no longer there it is now large and perfectly round, "

Ichigo is the first to get over the shock of seeing his sister pregnant, screams, "AKRINA….NO…. I will kill him… you cannot harm the heir of the clan….they said you were weak and sick!"

While Isshin screams," All of my Daughters are with child!... I am a grandpa three times over!"

Akrina looks at her father and rolls her eyes then glances over to Hitsugaya, thankful that he is now completely unconscious.

Her eyes are now on a grinning Jaen, as she replies to Ichigo saying, "We were only weak because to protect our child, Shiba used our strength to keep the child hidden."

With her eyes still on Jaen and Haburi Naka on her hands she says with a strong authoritive voice, "I am the wife of the 10th Division Taicho, Leader of Shiba Clan..."

She chuckles then proudly says, "And mother of the Shiba Clan Heir… My child and I will kill this man!"

As she finishes her statement, Jaen fires the gun again….

Final Battle

Jaen, is shocked as he watches as the bean of light hits her Zanputkou, and reflects off and hits the mountainside.

He fires again and again, each time the beam reflects off.

Akrina laughs, as she taunts him saying, "You need to try something else, because that trick is old and as you see… we will never allow you to hit us."

He takes in his hands his zanputkou, saying, "We will finish this now!"

She grips Haburi Naka hard as she attacks saying, "My turn!"

Her speed is amazing, to watch her move you would not think she was large with child.

Lighting can be seen when their Zanputkous strike each other.

The force behind each strike is incredible, causing powerful waves of reiatsu to roll across the field; weaker onlookers rush to take cover.

Ichigo turns and shouts orders for the 9th Division to quickly shield Rukia; and for the Shiba guards and the 10th Division to quickly move to shield Yuzu, Ami, Boi and Jinta.

Akrina swings and hits Jaen in his back causing his body to fly around the field.

As his body flies he points his hand at Akrina shouting, "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!"

Rukia hearing the Incantation, screams, "Akrina …be careful!"

Before Akrina, could reply to Rukia, she is hit with the spell, and her body is thrown in the air and starts fall hard toward the ground.

She slows her body as it is falling toward the ground, lands softly on her feet, and stood there, her eyes are hard as she assesses Jaen.

Isshin pats Rukia's shoulder saying, "don't worry ….look in her eyes ….she is serious… She will not allow anything to happen to the child or to herself."

Suddenly, Unohana Taicho can be overheard shouting orders to quickly move Hitsugaya to the 4th division ward.

Akrina's heart dropped as she looked over to see Hitsugaya's limb body being rushed to the 4th Division.

Everyone's attention is again on Akrina.

Their eyes become large as they witness a small foot can be seen moving across her perfectly round belly.

Akrina instinctly places her hand on her belly, and can heard saying, "yes my son, I know."

Taking her stance, Akrina, then says to Jaen, her voice is commanding and cold, "Jaen Sama, it is time to end this …are you ready to die!"

Before he could answer, she attacks.

Her face was menacing as she struck, those who knew her, could tell her emotions had now taken control.

The emotions she experienced, from the pain, fear, sadness, and loneliness that the Shadow caused her since arriving at Seireitei.

The emotions she now felt of possibility losing the only man she ever loved.

Jaen tried to block her attacks but could not.

He looked into her eyes and saw that her eyes reflected the emotions of not just Akrina.

Her eyes reflected the emotions of Karin, Shiba and now her unborn child.

He saw his death in her eyes and became afraid.

He pulled back, and attempted to call forth his release, but before he could say a word, her blade tore through him again.

With each strike, she shed a tear and never said a word.

He could barely stand before her, his hands trying hard to hold onto his Zanpakutō.

With both hands holding tightly to Haburi Naka she spun around with her deathly blades sliding into Jaen's body.

Her speed was unbelievable; those watching could only see a blur.

As she sliced into him, she said to him in a sad voice, "I don't blame you and I forgive you"

When everyone finally realized she had stopped moving, Jaen was dead, and his body had started to turn into spiritual particles and dissipate into the air.

Akrina had disappeared.

Healing Hitsugaya

She was weak, beaten and covered with blood when she ran into Hitsugaya' s room.

Unohana Taicho stood back, she was not surprised to see her there, more to the point she had been expecting her.

Akrina stood in front of her husband and concentrated all her remaining strength on him.

Her body glowed as she transferred her reiatsu to Hitsugaya.

Ichigo, Yuzu, Isshin, Rukia, Jinta, Byakuya, Momo, Matsumoto, the Vizards and the Shiba Nobles all ran into the room

Seeing his sister beaten and bloody healing Hitsugaya, Ichigo ran over to her screaming, "KARIN ….STOP! YOU CAN"T…. YOU'RE TO WEAK to HEAL HIM!"

She never stopped, as she glanced up at her brother with a weak smile and whispered something that only he could hear.

As she looked down at Hitsugaya, who had started to respond her to reiatsu, she could feel the darkest take hold her.

Hitsugaya opened his eyes, in time to see Ichigo catch her bloody body as she slowly passed out into his arms.

Hitsugaya screamed, "KARIN NO!"

Ichigo stood there stunned holding her, thinking about what she had said to him.
