First Step
"So this is Tokyo," whispered a calm and timid voice to no one in particular.
The brown haired twenty year old was struck by the magnificence of this city. Having grown up in the country, Linna Yamazaki has never seen Tokyo in real life before. Sure she's seen pictures of Tokyo from the Internet, but Tokyo was much more incredible than she had ever imagined. As a young child, her mother had always told her stories about Tokyo and ever since then, Linna had dreamt of visiting this place.
Linna Yamazaki stood on the concrete steps outside the cafeteria, gazing at the numerous tall buildings surrounding her.
"I made it," muttered Linna, her expressionless face changing into a smile.
"Mother was right. Tokyo is a place that cannot be described in words."
Linna observed her surroundings. The streets were filled with people of all ages. Some hurrying off to work and some merely enjoying the fresh air. There were even children roaming through the streets, laughing happily.
Just then, out of the corner of her eye, Linna spotted a robotic machine. Spinning around, Linna noticed that is was a boomer. Its size amazed Linna. Looking around her, Linna noticed that the streets were filled with boomers. For a second, Linna felt intimidated since the majority of the boomers are three times the size of a human being. Remembering the information that she had gathered from the Internet, Linna recalled reading that after the destructive earthquake, this so called Genom company manufactured boomers and it was the boomers that had rebuilt this city. Linna found it hard to believe that these simple looking robots could construct a place of such wonder.
Linna's smile gradually broadened into a grin.
"I can't believe it," began Linna. "I made it to Tokyo. I'm in Tokyo!" she yelled.
People passing by stopped in their tracks and peered at Linna curiously, utterly confused. Some people even cowered in fear, afraid that this person was mentally disabled and quickened their pace. Linna was well aware of the many people staring at her, but she didn't care. All that mattered to Linna Yamazaki was that she had finally arrived in Tokyo.
"Linna!" shouted a familiar voice.
Snapping out of her daydream, Linna turned and saw her workmate, Misae. She was leaning against a lamp post, her arms crossed across her chest, waiting for Linna.
"Linna, are you coming or not? We're going to be late for work," called Misae impatiently before walking off.
"Hey, wait up Misae!" yelled Linna, running after her workmate.
Stopping once, Linna turned back and looked at the busy streets. She had made her first step today in accomplishing her dream. Her dream of becoming...a Knight Sabre.
