New year star

Percy's POV

'There, you see her, sitting there across the way. She don't got a lot to say but there's something about her.'

Annabeth and I were sitting on the beach at Camp Half-Blood on New Years Eve, stargazing. "And that ones called…" pointing to a constellation. A sliver of hope was in her eyes like she thought I could actually remember. "Uh."

I said stupidly. "Gosh, could you be any more of a seaweed brain?" She asked, rolling her eyes. I pray Aphrodite will forgive me, but Annabeth would put that goddess of love to shame. Annabeth was wearing a blue cover-up. Her hair was in a clip, but now she pulled it out and her golden locks tumbled down her back. Her eyes had the faintest touch of silver eye shadow and had on some clear lip-gloss. Even though she was only wearing her camp necklace and owl earrings, she looked like a hundred golden drachmas.

'You don't know why but your dyin'

to try you wanna kiss the girl. Yes, you want her, look at her you know you do.

Its possible she wants you too, there is one way to ask her.

"Look Annabeth, there is something I want to tell you-"

But Annabeth wasn't even paying attention anymore. She was standing up and taking off her cover-up. She had on a pink and black striped bikini on. "Hey Percy, lets go in the water. Come on, it'll be fun!" She ran towards the water. I sighed and took off my shirt. I ran and jumped. We swam and played for a little bit, and pet a sea turtle. I put an air bubble around us and we just sat in silence, looking at the water bellow.

"It don't take a word, not a single word, go on and kiss the girl.

Sha la la la la la my oh my looks like the boy to shy ain't gonna kiss the girl.

Sha la la la la la ain't that sad? ain't that a shame? Too bad, he's gonna miss the girl.

As I was watching a crab scuttle by, Annabeth leaned forward and tried to kiss me. I suddenly got sweaty and nervous. as she was leaning in, I ducked and said "So, that was some rain yesterday." Which was stupid because it can't even rain at camp! Annabeth looked at me like I was crazy. Since it was so tense, I poked her, said "your it," and popped the bubble. I know it was stupid and childish, but it was all i could come up with. She sighed and swam after me. We swam after each other for a few minutes. I looked at my watch. It said 11:50. Shoot! It was almost new years.

Now's your moment, sitting in a blue lagoon. Boy you better do it soon no time will be better.

She don't say a word and she won't say a word until you kiss the girl.

(Chorus)

Sha la la la la la don't be scared

You got the mood prepared, go on and kiss the girl.

I put a bubble around us again and we just chatted about camp, and her dad. Up above, we could hear all the campers counting down. "7,6,5,4,3,2,1… HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" But we weren't paying attention. Annabeth and I were kissing. And it was wonderful.

As we separated, I could feel something pop the bubble. We headed up to the surface to see Conner and Travis Stoll throwing rotten tomatoes. Connor looked up at the sky, then Travis did too. Annabeth and I looked up to see a bright ball of light rocket across the sky. "Make a wish," I murmured. Annabeth grabbed my shoulders and kissed me again. In between breaths, she said, "I wish a certain Seaweed brain would be my boyfriend." "Well I wish we could have some privacy." She laughed as we went under the surface again.
