DISCLAIMER: I do NOT own Emperor's New School, otherwise I would not be writing FANfiction and there would have been much more Yada in the show. Anyway, this oneshot is based off of the episode Auction Action. I was watching it last night and felt a strong urge to write, so this was born. Yes, this is short. No, I don't care.
Yada wasn't sure what she had expected from Kuzco. Did she really think that he was going to suddenly transform into Mr. Perfect? He was rude and obnoxious and didn't acknowledge her presence, despite the fact that he was, in fact, on a date with her. She had known that the whole thing was his plan to make Malina jealous. She had known that she was no more than a tool to him. He had practically told her himself, hadn't he?
"See, this is not a real date, it's just Yada."
The worst part was she cared. Later that evening, she had stared into a mirror for at least an hour. She'd been touching her face and wondering how he made her feel so hideous. After all, he didn't matter to her, right? Then why, she asked herself, did she feel her heart breaking into a million little pieces over a single sentence he uttered? Why did she waste that many tears crying herself to sleep?
She still remembered that night years after graduation when they never saw each other. She had a loving family and a great job and a wonderful life in general, but sometimes she would look through that stupid year book and see his stupid face and she'd fall apart on the spot like the stupid woman she was. People always say that most mental wounds leave a scar, but hers remained open and bleeding. It's not like she can't handle it, though. No, it's only a coincidence that she reaches for that bottle of liquor when he comes to mind. The occasional drink didn't mean she was spiraling into depression.
One day, when she was heavily under the influence and the pain was worse than usual, she ended it.
A single sentence…
…and he wasn't even there at her funeral.
Reviews make me happy. ;D
