Mistletoe Under the Tree

-One Shot-

by Princess Emarelda

Sarah opened her eyes as sunlight streamed through the windows. Sarah lay there dazed for a moment remembering the night before. It sank in and she threw the covers off and raced downstairs. She rushed over to the christmas tree and bending down saw what she was looking for. A sprig of mistletoe. Sarah smiled and held it to her chest. She dreamily walked back to her bedroom and took some ribbon. She hung it with care in the doorway of her balcony. She turned towards her bed and saw a single red rose laying on her pillow. She lifted it to her nose and closed her eyes as she took in the smell. It was still warm from where he had touched it. Sarah sighed dreamily and holding the rose still wrapped her blanket around her as she stepped out onto the balcony. It was snowing lightly outside and below in the streets children played. Groups of people walked caroling and dancing. Childrens' laughter filled the air. Sarah smiled. She felt two strong arms wrap around her waist and she turned around. There stood the Goblin King. Her king, her Jareth. He smiled as his mismatched eyes twinkled and without saying a word pulled her to him. He pointed upwards at the mistletoe she just had hung. Sarah smile back at him. Jareth closed the gap between them and their lips met. Sarah wrapped her arms around his neck and the rose fell from her hand. Oblivious to their surroundings, the kiss grew deeper. A magical wind blew and tore the petals of the rose from the stem blowing the red petals around them. Sarah looked up as it began to snow rose petals and snowflakes. She returned Jareth's loving gaze. She finally knew what her christmas wish was. "Take us home Jareth. Take us home."Sarah said softly. So softly only the wind could hear it. "As you wish my precious queen. Let us go home."Jareth replied reclaiming her lips again. Then they vanished as three girls appeared at Sarah's doorway. "Sarah?"Maria asked. The only thing that moved was the light blue curtains blowing from the wind of the open balcony. The girls rushed over to the balcony and found glitter everywhere and a single sticky note.

Don't worry about me guys.

I have finally found my way home.

I will return, I promise.

Just wish to see me in a mirror and I will come.

Take good care of the guys.

I will never forget you all.

-Sarah

Tiffany, Maria, and Emma looked at each other in wonder as snow fell and singing, laughter, and happiness rang out from the streets. The girls smiled and closed the balcony doors. They wondered what new adventures lay in store for them. Only one could dream.

Far far away, Sarah lay in the arms of her new husband among a field of wildflowers. They gazed up at the stars and Sarah looked towards Jareth who met her gaze and he pointed to the sky showing a constellation. Sarah smiled as his blond hair tickled her cheek. She wondered what new adventures she would have in her new life. In the land of dreams, one does not only dream, because dreams are reality. Instead, one could only imagine what lay in store.
