Summary: The morning they return to work after their honeymoon, Jim and Pam discuss their feelings for their coworkers.
Feedback: Feel free to review.
Notes: Not as much a fic as a ficlet. My stories have been sooo short lately. This is my first story for "The Office."
It was the first day back to work after their honeymoon. Jim sat on the bed, tying up his shoes. Pam was putting in earrings.
"I don't want to go back," Pam said, "I wish I could stay in bed forever."
Jim chuckled. "Me too."
"It's weird though. I'm also glad to be going back. I sort of…missed them. In spite of them calling us on our honeymoon and Kevin canceling our credit cards."
"Really?" Jim smiled, standing up. "Even Dwight? Even Creed?"
"Yeah, even them. I don't know how to explain it. It's like, it's just…" Pam couldn't find the words to complete the sentence.
"I know," Jim nodded. "I secretly like them all too."
"Oh thank God it's not just me!" she exclaimed, openly relieved. "Even with all their antics?"
"Yeah."
Pam was quiet for a couple of seconds. Then she asked curiously, "When did you first realize?"
"At the wedding," Jim said simply.
"When they hijacked it?"
"No. I knew they were going to do that. It was on YouTube."
"Of course. YouTube! How did I not see it coming?" Pam smiled a bit. "So when did you realize then?"
"After we kissed on the alter."
"Why then?"
"Well, my family clapped and all, and your family did too, but…"
"But?"
Jim looked at his shoes and stuck his hands in his pockets, reflecting on that moment at their wedding. He looked up at Pam with a sheepish smile. "Well, they didn't just clap politely. They stood up and they cheered. It was like they were rooting for us, like we were a team, and I didn't realize until that moment how much their support meant to me...how much they actually mean to me."
"Yeah," Pam nodded with a smile. "It's a little unsettling though."
Jim laughed. "Definitely."
"They can never know, right?" she smiled mischievously.
"Oh God, no," Jim shook his head seriously, "Absolutely not. They might try to move in or something."
Pam giggled. "Oh good Lord. So, time to go?"
"Yeah."
They headed out to the car.
