Anger

He sits there, looking arrogant even when he's sitting on the floor beside her, and Lily finds herself irritated. It's not an uncommon feeling -- irritation occurs quite often within her family, but there's an edge to this that she's unaccustomed to, and she tilts her head, considering it, as if trying to translate a foreign language to which she knows the alphabet, but the words are not coming together,

Scorpius watches her, intrigued, he can practically hear the gears in her head, and sighs. That is always her problem. Lily is far too accustomed to analyzing every emotion she comes across, trying to break it down rather than feel it. He has to break her of it, and he takes hold of her wrists, as if holding them in his hands he could stop the thought process. "What are you feeling?"

Lily struggles for a moment, both with his hold and the words. The edge to the irritation sharpens, and she remembers why she seeks him out every time. "I don't know."

"You do," he replies, not releasing her wrists. "You know how you feel, you know what to call it. Now, what is it."

Lily tilts her head again, watching him, as if he were some sort of mirror and she could read it on his face, as if sensing what she's doing, the blond pulls on her wrists, interrupting her train of thought.

"Don't think." He barks.

"Angry?" Lily decides, but there's a question in her voice. This feeling is so different than anything she would normally call anger.

"Angry?" Scorpius repeats, needling her, as he imitated the doubt in her voice, wanting her to define it better, watching her brown eyes harden.

"Angry." Lily repeats, glaring at him, even though he was only helping her like she asked.

"Angry!" Scorpius says again, almost yelling.

"Angry!" Lily repeats, yelling back, the irritation sharpening into something that was definitely anger now. Anger about his smirk, about the way his hair fell lazily into his eyes, anger about her need to be around him, the addiction to him she seemed to have.

"Angry." Scorpius says again, and kisses her hard. It's a mistake, being like this with Lily Luna Potter is always a mistake, but the steel under the softness that only he sees intrigues and tempts him, and only the empty room is a witness. She's startled at first, tensed, but then she relaxes and she kisses him back, and he feels the anger in her body dissipate.
