Disclaimer: Characters used and abused in this fic are the product and property of people way smarter - and cooler - than I. I have my way with them for my own twisted amusement - and hopefully yours.

Author's Note: This is a sequel to Soulless. You should read that one first, if you haven't already. Thanks to my beta, cpneb.

Soulless: Reunion

a Kim Possible fanfic, by Sir Sebastian

There was nothing. A black, desolate void. It wasn't dark – concepts like light and dark didn't exist in that place. Technically, the place itself didn't exist, it just was.

Somewhere in that void, a consciousness flickered on the edge of existence, a speck of brightness, existence, alone in the dark of non-existence. Defiant in the face of vast nothingness, it sustained itself on pure will as it wandered in search of... something.

For a long time it had searched, even though time didn't have meaning in that place, so it might as well have been for an eternity. Eternity had taken its toll – the consciousness had started to wane. Soon it would vanish, without a trace, without anyone knowing of its struggle.

It started moving frantically, desperate in the knowledge it would soon be gone. No matter how hard it tried, it was no closer to finding whatever it was searching for. It was down to its last flicker.

"Can you feel them?"

"I can. Two desperate beings, in pain, so much pain."

"Can you bring them back?"

"Not even someone as powerful as me is capable of that. All I can do, is help them find each other, and hope it'll bring them peace."

"Anything you can do, just, please... Don't let them suffer anymore."

In the middle of nothing, a light appeared. In the total absence of light it shone like a beacon, drawing to it anyone, or anything, that saw it.

Just as it was about to give up, give in to the darkness, the consciousness saw the light. It went toward the light, its last hope, with the last of its strength it grasped for the final straw. When it got there, another was waiting. It now knew what it had been searching for.

The two were drawn to each other by forces beyond understanding. They became one. As the two merged, the infinite void glowed bright for just a moment. The two fused, expending the last of their strength in joyous celebration. In a flash of infinite brightness, the two were no more. They had fulfilled their purpose and were now done.

The old woman opened her eyes, her creased face a picture of serenity. "It is done," she said.

"You were able to help them?" the young woman in black and green asked, her countenance still anxious and worried.

The old woman nodded solemnly. "They were reunited and are now at peace."

She closed her eyes, a lonely tear escaping from the corner of her eye, traveling across the young woman's pale green cheek. "Thank you," she smiled.

As the green-clad woman stepped out of the house, she looked up to the star-carpeted sky.

"Rest in peace, Princess," she said in her mind. She dug out and put on a pair of shades, and climbed on her motorcycle. As she sped away on the winding dirt road, a new star appeared in the sky, lighting her way.
