I didn't mean to...

It wasn't real. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be happening!

I didn't mean to...

It wasn't supposed to happen like this! He'd been so careful!

This isn't real...right?

It seemed like everything was going so well. He was so sure he could pull off the entire thing without a hitch.

It was just a little shock...

He was going to take him to a hospital and make his getaway. The kid would be safe and he would be free. It was all so perfect.

How did it go so wrong?

But then the girl—Ayumi?—started screaming.

No...

He was convulsing.

Stop...

They had to hold him down as the convulsions became more forceful.

Stop it!

Then finally—FINALLY stopped.

He's not breathing!

Completely.

Why is he not breathing?

They tried to resuscitate him. He winced with every press of his chest to try and force him back.

Don't do this!

But couldn't.

No!

And he knew.

No one gets hurt, remember? No one gets hurt. No one dies. That's how it's supposed to go, remember Tantei-kun?

He knew he was the reason.

This is a joke! He's just trying to trick me! I'll freak out and he'll get up and laugh about how he fooled me into revealing myself!

He was the reason that he wasn't moving.

Go on, Tantei-kun! Get up and make your big reveal. Come on!

He was the reason he wasn't breathing.

You're really scaring me now, Tantei-kun. Please get up! I don't care if it's a trick, just get up now!

He was the reason...

Please? Please, Tantei-kun?

And the girl was screaming and the boys were crying and the adults were running around shouting orders and no one was HELPING HIM!

Please...

And that one girl with the too serious eyes was only staring down at the boy in horror.

You won, okay? I officially surrender. You can gloat all you want. Just...stop laying there.

She reached out a hand to his wrist. It lay there limply in her grip.

...Tantei-kun?

Her head raised up almost abnormally slow until her eyes met his and he KNEW.

No. Don't say it.

Her eyes narrowed.

DON'T SAY IT!

"His heart stopped."

And his world shattered.

AN: Because knocking out your opponents with sleeping gas is one thing, but using a freakin' taser on a child is a seriously jerk move. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and I expected a good reason for it. A good, "not just to get away with stealing" reason, and I was sorely disappointed.

In this case, using a taser on a child was a bad idea. He essentially electrocuted the poor kid. And given that Conan's still under the effects of a mysterious poison, he was likely already weak to begin with. His heart couldn't take it.

Sorry everyone. I'll post something funny to make up for it soon.
