Are You There, Santa?

"Masser Split-ner, will you write my letter to Sanna for me?"

Looking up from his book, the fatherly rodent looked into his young son's eyes and smiled. Four year old Raphael was blushing with great discern, realizing full well that he was asking for help, something he did not ordinarilly like to do.

"But of course I shall, my son," Splinter gently said before folding his book over his armrest, keeping his page, and fumbling through the nearby drawer. "Simply allow me to find some paper and a pen to write with."

"I have 'um," the little turtle explained before holding out the hands he had secreted behind his back. "They good?"

"Very good," Splinter chuckled before accepting them gently. His soft eyes rested upon his son. "I shall begin with 'Dear Santa.'"

"'N then what I say?"

"Yes, Raphael. Then what you say," Splinter assured before beginning the letter.

"Okay," the young one said before coughing into a balled fist. "Are you there, Sanna?"

Splinter raised his brow before continuing, writing word for legible word what his son produced.

"'Cuz you did not ans'ar all tah let-er last year," Raph proclaimed. "I gots the toy but you forgot my daddy."

Splinter paused and looked up to his son. Raphael whined.

"Don't stop, Masser!" he begged.

Reluctantly, the father continued.

"I thought very mean you didn't gets Masser Split-ner a theng 'cuz he's tah best daddy I ever knowned. Pleeze don't forgets him this year. Love Raph-l."

Splinter smiled and looked to his son. "Little one, Santa Claus did not forget my letter, I did not send one."

Raphael grew a worried face. "Why not, Masser?" he asked. "Not believes anymore?"

"Oh, no, my son, Santa is there," Splinter chuckled before pulling the little turtle into a hug. "I just did not need anything else but my sons last year or this year or any year to come."
