Last challenge? No way! This was way fun. Anyway, here's my last challenge fic. I didn't mean for it to not have dialogue, but it just kind of happened that way. I apologize in advance if it's a little hard to read because it's block text. I tried to fix it some. I really like this one, so please be nice. I believe it's also the shortest thing I've written, but it feels finished to me, so I think I'll leave it at that.
He/she blamed it on the ducks.
He blamed it on the ducks. Why else would he, Kevin Lucas, have kissed her, Macy Misa? He was just sitting there at the park, when Macy came along like she did every week for the past few months to jog around the path. She smiled and said hello and then he asked her if she'd like to feed the ducks with him. She said yes and reached for the bag of stale bread at the same time he did. Kevin was completely unprepared for the sparks he felt as their fingers met over a day-old roll. She blushed and dropped it when she realized she was practically holding hands with him, and he blushed as well. He shyly offered her the roll and she broke it in two, giving him back half.
They smiled at each other as they broke off smaller pieces of the roll, throwing it to the ducks that had gathered around them. A female mallard stuck her head out of the reeds at the edge of the pond, saw the bread and waddled out, her ducklings following behind her.
The ducklings were losing out on the food because of their size and when Macy saw this, she let out a sympathetic "oh" and dropped a large amount of bread chunks onto the ground in front of them. It was then that Kevin's heart melted and he was completely head over heels for Macy. After about ten minutes, the bread was gone and the ducks were still coming. They were angrily quacking, demanding more food, biting at their ankles. Macy gave a little yelp of surprise and jumped, clutching Kevin's arm. So, he did the first thing he thought of.
He jumped up on the picnic table, pulling Macy up with him. It was then he realized just how close they were. And how brown her eyes were. And how she smelled like vanilla and cinnamon. And how she fit perfectly in the circle of his arms.
And then he leaned forward and kissed her and he realized how warm and soft her lips were and how they tasted like cherries.
And when they broke apart, Macy looked up at him, her brown eyes wide and blinking and she stammered his name and then she fainted and fell off the table and the ducks jumped on her, so he had to do the noble thing and sacrifice himself to the ducks in order to save her.
Yeah, it was definitely the ducks' faults.
