She should have known the drill was a dumb idea to begin with. Damn that Avatar, Azula thought bitterly. They needed another plan fast, and for once she was at a complete loss for any ideas.
"Ba Sing Se will be ours." She lit a small fire in the palm of her hand, almost as if expecting to get an idea from staring at it. "The Fire Nation has sought after the great city for too long, and I will do what my uncle and his men failed to do all those years ago," she asserted.
"Azula?"
She spun around, the flame growing larger in her hand as she did; she quickly extinguished it when she realized it was only Ty Lee poking her head into the door of the tent.
"What is it?" she asked coldly.
"I just wanted to ask if you needed anything...a cup of tea, or an extra blanket," the acrobat said. "Are you feeling okay? You've been really quiet since the fight."
"I'm fine," Azula said crisply. "And I don't need anything, either."
"Are you sure?" Ty Lee asked. "It's been a pretty hard day." Azula rolled her eyes, sometimes Ty Lee's slavish devotion to her could be grating. Having people worship her was one thing, but when it came dangerously close to toadying it was just sad.
"Go to sleep, Ty Lee. I want us up bright and early tomorrow morning so we can come up with a better plan," she said.
"...if you're sure, then." Ty Lee almost looked sad, but quickly smiled and gave a small bow. "Goodnight, Azula!"
"Wait." The princess smiled. "On second thought, don't get too comfortable. I may need a back rub very soon, depending on how stiff I become once I lie down." Almost instantly, the other girl perked up and nodded.
"You call me right away, then!" she said, and headed back to her own tent. Azula sighed, slowly taking her armor off.
Sometimes a little toadying isn't that bad.
