Sarah Williams and the Crystal Crown

Chapter 1

It was well after midnight and everything was quiet and peaceful, in the dark sleeping victorian house.

If you passed by it, you wouldn't even take a second glance and think there was something out-of-the-ordinary about it at all.

The outside wood was painted a blue grey, but the color was slightly pale and faded due to being weathered by the elements. The window shutters were white, and the roof shingles were a deep dark grey. It had a large front yard and back yard with many english rose bushes, maple trees, pine trees, and other plants.

Downstairs in the living room, the fire embers glimmered, ever so slightly sizzling as proof of the once roaring warm fire.

Upstairs the residents of the house were fast asleep, the parents were in the master bedroom dreaming of job promotions and family vacations they could take coming that summer.

In the nursery, a little baby boy, Toby, slept in his crib dreaming of well, uh, baby things. His two pudgy little hands hugged an old worn and loved teddy bear to his chest. Down the hall, Sarah hovered over a sketchbook on her lap, sketching furiously as if she was trying to capture a moment before it vanished.

Outside her window, a white owl sat on a branch watching with it's two different colored eyes.

It is funny how things work out, since only hours before, the teddy bear was sitting on an old wooden shelf in the girl's room and the thing that triggered the beginning to her entire adventure. Just a few hours before she had been traversing the Labyrinth to win back her baby brother she wished away. Just a few hours before she defied and challenged the Goblin King again and again.

The girl was something unto herself, not because she was beautiful, (for she was though she didn't realize it), nor was it for her parentage, family wealth, or her family's magic legacy. But for her heart. Her heart was pure and good. And she was no ordinary girl. Her name was Sarah. And she is the girl the Goblin King fell in love with.

This is their story.
