Disclaimer: I don't own Monster Allergy

Seems I can't give up writing Monster Allergy fanfics.

Got this idea during an assembly at school when a speaker came to talk about drunk driving for red ribbon week. Kinda short oneshot.

Knock knock knock.

Zick found himself laying on the couch, a beer bottle in hand. He set it down on the floor with a tired sigh.

A glance at the clock told him it was 12:39 pm. With a curse, he sat up, holding his head with one hand.

Knock knock knock.

Zick stood and walked to the door, grudgingly answering it.

"Zick, I need to tell you something."

Teddy pushed his way past Zick before he could refuse. His eyes told him something was wrong, and suddenly fear gripped at Zick.

"What happened," he demanded. Teddy shuffled his feet, uncertainty now etched on his face.

"Zick... Elena was in a car accident. She... She didn't make it."

Zick stared at his friend, unable to fully comprehend the impact of what had been said. It wasn't the alcohol in his system, no, that had mostly worn off by now and he could no longer feel it's effects. It was sheer disbelief that had found it's hold on the young man and stole his ability to respond.

"Zick," Teddy called tentatively. He had know his friend would take it hard, but he had never seen Zick like this.

"What... How... When did this happen?" Zick's hands clenched into fists as he willed himself not to let his tears spill, not yet.

"Oh..." Zick slumped to the ground, a hand pressed to his forehead. "What... What exactly happened?"

"Elena and Lay were coming back from the mall. A..." Teddy started to look uncomfortable, his eyes boring into the empty beer bottle. He forced himself to continue. "A drunk driver was speeding and missed the stop sign. He rammed into the driver's side." Zick didn't react yet, his hair casting shadows his eyes and making it impossible to read any emotion they might hold. "Elena died on impact. Lay was sent to the hospital. The driver's in jail."

Zick stood and walked over to the refrigerator. Opening it, he set four dark bottles and a case of beer on the ground.

"Zick?"

He picked the poison up and opened the door. He started in the direction of the garbage can.

"She had wanted me to stop."

Turned out better than I thought it would... But, as usual, there is a character death.

Hm... Nothing else to say.
