The Holiday Armadillo
By angellwings
"I'm the Holiday Armadillo, your part Jewish friend."
"…because armadillos also walked through the desert?"
"What if there really was a Holiday Armadillo?" Kevin asked his brothers thoughtfully as they watched "Friends" re-runs.
"Dude, that would be sweet. Would it be Ross in an armadillo suit or an actual armadillo?" Joe asked.
Kevin's eyes widened, "I don't know which would be cooler! I'm torn! Nick?"
Nick sighed, "Please don't pull me into this."
"Come. On. This should be a piece of cake for you, Mr. Genius," Joe scoffed.
"This conversation is ridiculous," Nick told them.
"Because, as a rule, our conversations always make sense," Kevin said sarcastically.
Nick huffed, "Fine if you must know Ross in an armadillo suit would be a much cooler holiday symbol than an actual armadillo."
Kevin raised an eyebrow at his youngest brother, "I think I disagree. An armadillo helping out Santa would be way cooler…and cuter."
"Of course you think that," Nick smirked. "You always pick the animals. Always."
Kevin's eyes widened in realization, "…I do, don't I?"
"Face it, man, you're an animal fan," Joe told him as he patted Kevin's shoulder.
"Can you blame me? The Animal kingdom is the best kingdom ever!" Kevin said excitedly.
"That brings up an interesting question, Kevin. If you had to choose between hanging out with Macy or any animal of your choosing what would you pick?" Nick asked with a smirk.
Kevin cleared his throat and looked away from Nick and Joe. When he finally spoke his voice was a few octaves higher, "The animal of course. Maybe an otter with a trumpet."
Nick's left eyebrow flew upward. His suspicions were confirmed. Kevin had a crush on Macy. It was a definite if he was choosing her over animals and lying to them about it, "Sure, Kev. Sure."
Kevin stood from his chair quickly, "Wow, would you look at the time. I'm off to bed."
Joe grinned, "Kevin, it's 7 PM."
"Well, gotta get up early…you know school."
"It's Saturday night."
"Is it?" He asked in that same high pitched tone. "Well…um, I need to practice for when it IS a school night. Yep, that's what I need to do."
Nick shook his head and chuckled, "Night, bro. Let us know when you're ready to admit that you love Macy."
"Macy and Kevin sitting in a tree…K-I-S-S-I-" Joe began to sing teasingly.
"Really, Joe, you're teasing me about a crush? You?" Kevin said with a glare as he reached his bunk.
Joe's eyes widened innocently, "What?"
"It's times like these that make me appreciative of my genius," Nick said as he puffed out his chest proudly.
"Uh huh, and how long did it take you to fall for sparkly guitar girl?" Joe asked.
"Her name was Penny, and…I'd rather not talk about it."
"Guys, something is beginning to dawn on me," Kevin said thoughtfully from his position.
"What's that, Kev?" Joe asked.
"We suck at love."
Nick and Joe thought about this for a moment before voicing their agreement.
"We really do."
"Totally."
