So uh I realize its been almost four years since I updated
But I just found the documents that had a good bit of this story already written out
so I figured
here you go
If it sucks I'm sorry, but I'll probably be speed loading these because... let's face it I want to get back into writing
"Nnh…" I felt sore all over, but I had a blanket over me, and a towel on my head. I also smelt something delicious. I sat up, causing the blanket and the towel to fall off. I blinked and stared at the person who had supposedly saved me. It was a little kid, with bright yellow hair tied back in a ponytail, and she was wearing a green dress. Next to her was a large rat, and she seemed to be in a happy discussion with it.
"Who're you?" I managed to say, my throat incredibly dry. She looked at me, her blue eyes shining.
"Oh you're awake!" she said. Then I noticed that my three Pokemon were also out, sitting around the pot of stew that she was making. "Your Spearow found me and I found you." She said, filling an empty bowel with some of the stew.
"Again….who're you?" I questioned, rubbing my head ruefully before my stomach let loose an extremely loud growl. I glared at it, but thankfully accepted the stew and began swallowing it in large gulps, not even bothering to use to the spoon she had provided. Quickly she gave me two more helpings before I sighed contentedly and sat cross legged, happily full. Charmander, Spearow, and Pikachu were all sleeping.
"I'm Yellow de Viridian!" she said happily, and her rat resounded her answer. "This is Ra-chan." She said, indicating the large rat by her side.
"Raticate!" it announced happily. I stared at it before pulling out my Pokedex.
"Oh cool!" I said excitedly. "The evolved form of Rattata!" I remembered those evil little munchkins, attacking my precious Charmander….well anyways.
"You have a Pikachu of the forest." She said, looking at my Pikachu. Then she pointed a finger at me accusingly. "What kind of trainer allows their Pokemon to become so injured?! When I found you-"
"I'm sorry! It was the Pikachu's idea to fight! Not mine!" I wailed, waving my hands frantically. "And besides, I got stung by a giant yellow caterpillar. Shit happens." Yellow seemed doubtful, but she looked at Pikachu, and closed her eyes. A moment later the two of them glowed slightly, and then she reopened her eyes and smiled at me.
"I'm sorry. I should've checked with Pikachu first." She said, and I stared from her to Pikachu, then back to her.
"What did you do?" I asked.
"I can listen to the thoughts and understand the feelings of Pokemon." She said shrugging, as though it were no big deal. "Every few years someone born in or by the forest gets that ability." I stared at her in amazement. That would be so cool, to be able to relate to Pokemon like that.
"Wow…..do you know anyone else who can do that?" I asked. At this Yellow seemed slightly saddened.
"Well, yes…..but the last time I saw them, they were not in the best of shape." She said sadly, and her Raticate put its paw on her arm knowingly.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Well….a couple years ago-"
"There you are!" Yellow and I turned to see a rather worn out looking Lance standing a few feet away. He had twigs sticking out of his hair in random places, and his pants were covered with mud, and quite honestly, although he looked ready to kill me, it was comical.
"Do you have any idea how long I've been looking for you?!" he raged, stomping over and standing over me, glowering. I was doing my best not to snicker. "I've been worried sick! For all I knew you could've fallen into some pit filled with Pinsir or something!"
"Hello Lance." Yellow said happily, and Lance finally seemed to notice her. The color drained from his face and he coughed before sitting cross legged beside me.
"Hello Yellow." He said with a monotone, and I looked from one to the other. They knew each other?
"Been a while." She said, trying to keep it from getting awkward. I glanced from one to the other as I heard a bunch of birds take off in the distance during the awkward silence.
"That indeed it has." He nodded curtly, and then Yellow returned her attention to me.
"Oh yes! Lance is one of the people who has the same ability that I do." She said, and Lance glared at her. I, however, turned on him, my eyes probably sparkling with adoration.
"Oh really?" I asked excitedly. Lance didn't answer immediately.
"Yes. I can." he stated quietly, and then Yellow resumed our conversation.
"So! What's your name?" she asked, and I realized I hadn't told her.
"Vivian. I'm a new trainer as of yesterday."
"Two days ago. I've been looking for her for a day." Lance grumbled, propping his head up on his hand, whose elbow rested on his knee.
"Are you serious?!" I squeaked. "I slept in the forest and didn't know it?"
"Pretty much." Yellow said gleefully. "But you're with me; nothing will harm you. Besides, the forest isn't all that dangerous anyways. It's just a maze."
"Oh." Was all I said before the awkward silence took over.
"So! Um….thank you, very much Yellow." I said, bowing as best I could while sitting down. "And we should probably be on our way to Pewter City."
"Don't mention it!" she said. "I might see you again some time!"
"I look forward to it." I said, smiling. She laughed at this, but then Lance stood up.
"We really do need to get going, actually." He said apologetically. I sighed and recalled all of my Pokemon before also standing up.
"Thank you again Yellow. See you later."
"See you." She said, beginning to clean up her little campsite.
"See you Yellow." Lance said, and then he hesitated. "And…thank you." She looked at him surprised before she smiled knowingly and continued to do what she was doing.
"See you Lance." She called as we walked away.
"How do you know her?" I asked, casting a glance over my shoulder.
"It's a long story." Lance said shortly, making me drop the subject immediately. Before long, though, any sign of Yellow was gone, and it was just the two of us in the forest again.
"Hey! You're a trainer right?" called a voice, and we both stopped to see a boy with a straw hat on pointing at me. He had a dirty white tank top on, with light blue shorts, and sandals. He also had a bug net, with a bug cage by his feet.
"Yes…?" it ended up sounding more like a question.
"You can't jam out if you're a Pokemon trainer!" he cried, before sending out a rather large Weedle.
"Right." I threw Charmander's ball, and my fiery lizard friend glared the bug down.
"Charmander, ember!" I commanded, and Charmander immediately responded by KO'ing the worm. He had just grown a level, as he suddenly seemed to have a slight growth spurt. Then the boy sent out a different worm; this one was green, with huge black eyes. It was adorable. I pulled my Pokedex out and recorded the data on Caterpie.
"Ember!" again, a KO. So I had won my first battle, and I bragged about it for half an hour to Lance until he dully reminded me that not only did I have a type advantage but that beating a Bug Catcher was something anyone could do, and if I hadn't won Lance would've abandoned me on the spot, as he said. So it continued in like fashion for the next three hours; occasionally battle a Bug Catcher, beat the shit out of them, and randomly fight off annoying bugs. Then, much to my surprise, we found ourselves outside of the forest by around four in the afternoon.
"Are we really through?" I exclaimed, turning around to stare at the ominous forest that we had just left behind. "I thought it would take three days."
"Three days for a normal person who walks on the path." Lance said, smirking. "But much shorter for someone who blazes their own trail after a Pikachu." His answer was received with a whack upside the head.
"It'll take us about another four hours to reach the city…" he muttered, glancing at the sky. I groaned; great, more walking. "I would like to get there before dark though…." He seemed to fiddling with one of his Poke balls, and then he decided, taking one and throwing it, releasing a rather large Pokemon. It was a dragon; a pale orange dragon that stood on its hind legs. I didn't think it looked all that majestic, personally, and it had two antennas sticking out of its head. Its wings were extremely tiny; so tiny that I couldn't believe that it could fly.
"Woah." Although I didn't think it looked majestic, it was still an impressive Pokemon, and I pulled my Pokedex out to see what it was. "Dragonite…snap." Damn. This Pokemon had to be in the upper fifties or lower sixties in level. Suddenly Dragonite roared happily and hugged me. "Woah! Hey there…" I croaked as Dragonite happily rubbed its face against mine, crushing me in a death grip.
"Dragonite." Lance said softly, and Dragonite released me reluctantly. "Dragonite, this is Vivian. Vivian, Dragonite." Dragonite looked at him confused, and began talking, as though protesting something, but Lance only closed his eyes. "Trust me on this Dragonite." He said quietly, and Dragonite then remained quiet, but its gaze on me was almost like Gary's; soul piercing.
"We're going to fly there." Lance announced, motioning to Dragonite's back.
"Right…" I walked over, and contemplated on how to get up before hoisting myself onto Dragonite's back. Lance climbed on behind me, and he immediately placed one arm around my middle protectively. I immediately had to force the thought that a hot guy was holding me to the back of my head, however, as Dragonite leapt into the air, and we were off.
I stopped screaming about a second later.
"Afraid of heights?" Lance yelled playfully over the wind.
"That just startled me is all." I shot back, glad that he couldn't see my face turn red. Then I noticed the landscape below us. Viridian Forest seemed so much smaller in the air, and on the side we had just come out of was a gaping hole in the ground. I pondered over what it could possibly be, but then my attention was diverted to the fact that Dragonite was racing over the tree tops, its feet barely an inch away from the tops, and I almost had to shut my eyes because of the force of the wind against my face. Not even half an hour later, I felt the wind stop, and I was able to open my eyes at last. We were in front of a Pokemon Center, and Lance had already gotten off and was waiting for me to do the same. I slid off of Dragonite's back, and Lance immediately recalled it before walking into the Center without saying anything else. I wasn't even given time to look around Pewter City, as I rushed in after him.
Lance was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, and he dangled a pair of keys in front of me to tell me that he had already gotten us a room. I nodded and rushed over to the counter, where I handed Nurse Joy my Pokemon for the night. As I followed Lance to the stairs, I overheard a man on his phone.
"WHAT?!" he was saying. "Team Rocket is at Mt. Moon?!" that was all I heard before I had to dash off after the tall red head. As Lance fumbled with the keys, a sudden thought struck me.
"Lance, how old are you?" I questioned.
"21. Why?" he asked, not looking up as the door clicked open and we walked inside.
"No reason." I said, shrugging. Before I could do anything else though, Lance had somehow managed to get into the bathroom before me. "Wha-HEY!" I yelled, although realizing that I would probably be having an extremely cold shower tonight. I went and claimed the bed by the window, immediately shutting the curtains. I had no idea why I closed them though; automatic reaction, I guessed. As I sat and stared at my backpack, I thought about my Pokemon. Charmander was at level 13, Spearow at level 8, and Pikachu level 5. As I checked Charmander's moves, I realized that he had learned Metal Claw earlier today. I grinned; I wouldn't be needing a Butterfree after all.
