Ok, I'm getting bored with waiting. Plus, mom changed the password on the laptop, so I can't continue Po's Side of the Story for a while. Enjoy this short fic.

This fic starts off at the end of Shifu and Oogway's conversation.

Peach Tree Death

"But a peach cannot defeat Tai Lung!" Shifu cried.

"Maybe it can." Oogway said, kneeling down to cover the peach seed Shifu threw down with soil. "If you are willing to guide it, to nurture it, to believe in it."

"But how?" Shifu asked desperately. "How? I need your help Master."

"No." Oogway said. "You just need to believe." Oogway looked at his student in the eyes. "Promise me, Shifu. Promise me you will believe."

Shifu was lost for words. Could he really make such a promise? "I…..I will…..try." Shifu said.

"Hmmm, good." Oogway said. He looked up at the peach tree petals swirling around like a ghostly fog. He smiled. "My time has come." He turned to Shifu and handed him his staff. "You must continue your journey without me." Oogway turned and walked off.

"What….what are you…..what?" Shifu stared at the staff for a minute before he realized what was happening. "Master!" he called, following the old tortoise going to the edge of the cliff. "You can't leave me!"

Oogway stopped at the edge and turned to Shifu, saluting to him one last time.

"You must believe." He told Shifu. Oogway's body started to glow softly.

"Master!" Shifu called desperately.

Oogway only smiled……and then disappeared in the petals, up to the Heavens. Shifu stared sadly after him. After a few minutes, the petals disappeared. Shifu stared at the ground, the peach tree staff in his numb hands.

He's dead. Shifu thought. Oh gods he's really dead. Shifu knew, even as a child, that Oogway wouldn't be around forever. The tortoise was a thousand years old.

But why did you leave now? Shifu stared at the staff in his hands for a moment before he got mad. He threw the staff against the Sacred Peach Tree. The staff bounced off the ground and got stuck in the branches. Shifu started to pace angrily.

"What was he thinking?" he muttered. "How could he think I was ready for this?" Shifu stared at the starry sky. "Why did you leave me now?!" he yelled to the Heavens. "What were you thinking? You abandoned me! You left me when I needed you most!" Shifu breathed hard. "What were you trying to prove?" Shifu looked up at Oogway's staff, now stuck in the branches of the Sacred Peach Tree. Shifu gave a low growl before he walked off.

"I don't need the panda." He said. "I'll defeat Tai Lung myself."

Then, Shifu felt a soft wind at his face.

And a voice within the winds.

"Believe….." it chanted. " Believe…"

Shifu scowled. "How can you expect me to believe? I can't."

"Believe…..believe……"

"Leave me alone!"

"Believe in your master…."

Shifu froze. The winds had left him. Shifu stared up at the starry sky once more. Oogway had left him forever. Shifu wouldn't see him again until he died.

But Oogway believed in him.

He had to believe in Oogway.

Shifu spun around and ran up to the Sacred Peace Tree. Oogway's staff was still stuck in the branches of the tree. Shifu climbed the tree quickly and grabbed it. He stroked it for a minute and sighed. He felt tears come in his eyes and wiped them away. He looked to the sky.

"Alright." Shifu said. "I'll do it. But I hope you know what you're getting me into." Shifu jumped down with the staff and started walking off to the palace to break the news to his students.

All the while, he was wondering what he would do.
