Peek-a-Boo
The Teen Titans, over time, had developed an odd habit. The public didn't know it, they were careful of that, it would be far too embarrassing.
It started with Robin, oddly enough. Starfire had been watching a show, and finally asked him, being the only one there, "Why does the baby giggle at the peeking man?"
Needless to say, Robin misinterupted that, and ran to the TV to check that it wasn't what he thought. Instead, an oddly familiar scene played out.
"That's a game, it's called peek-a-boo, you play it with babies so they'll figure out that even when you're not there you're there." Starfire blinked, and nodded.
"This is a most wise Earth custom, we don't have that on Tameran, perhaps.... we could try it?" he blinked.
"What do you mean Star?" she looked down bashfully.
"Occasionally, I am... unsure that our teammates will return, perhaps if we had this custom.... we would not worry?" he blinked, and smiled at her fondly.
"Okay." she brightened instantly.
"Oh, thank you Robin! We shall start right now!" she ran from the room, then, peeked back in, "Peek-a-Boo!" Robin chuckled in spite of himself, the Tameran really cut an adorable figure peering from behind the door.
"Good job." she beamed.
"Now you go as well friend Robin!" she said, pushing him towards the exit. Hesitantly, and feeling like an idiot all the while, he walked out then back in.
"Er... peek-a-boo?" Starfire giggled and clapped.
"Oh yes! I enjoy this Earth custom, let us share it with our friends!"
To say it didn't go over well was an understatement.
"You want me to what now?" Cyborg.
"Er.. dudes, isn't that for babies?" Beast Boy.
"No." Raven.
Of course, Starfire, with her reluctant cohort, didn't give up. And the habit was built up.
But, if Robin had known how long it would last, he probably would've put an end to it.
Nonetheless, Starfire, having just arrived in Bludhaven to visit an old friend, bounded into his hideout like it was Titans Tower.
"Peek-a-Boo!" blinking, he turned from a phonecall with Batman (and Tim, dammit) and couldn't help but smile at the familiar face.
"Hey Star!" he hugged her.
"Eww!" he glared at the screen.
"Friend Ro-Nightwing, do you have a... identical copy of yourself?" she asked in awe, approaching the screen. He glowered.
"No, he's just my little brother." Starfire turned to him curiously, before beaming.
"Ah! I see, you are Nightwing, that is Little Robin, and that is... mothman? Np, catman! Or maybe a..... why is Little Robin laughing?"
AN: Okay, it's a little off topic, but come on, sometimes it is really hard to tell Bats is a bat unless you see his entire costume. Seriously, the top has pointed ears (dannanana Catman! -LOL, fairly odd parents, LOL-) and come on, who hasn't thought of mothman? the beak just needs to be a bit longer, and his costume should be grey, but yeah, Starfire probably wouldn't see that.
