Process of Thawing

Freezing is cold.

Freezing…is icier than the spell from Augmenti, when trying to put out a not so accident flame on Filch's damn cat

…icier than the feeling of a Kiss from a dementor who attempt to take away the glowing happiness that every soul has

…icier than hands and heart when news floated into ears

And so, George freezes.

Numb is good.

Numb…is better than feeling the anger and frustration when a prank is foiled.

…better than the sadness that comes along with loss; the sudden outburst of tears

…better than living life without the other half of your soul

And so, George lives on numbly.

Defrosting stings.

Defrosting…hurts more than a slap from Dad when trying to engage younger brother in a vow that may end with death

…hurts more than being rejected for a school dance

…hurts more than seeing your own face, unmoving and dead

And so, George cannot defrost.

Memories are charming.

Memories are…sweeter than the day Umbridge was attacked by the dragon

…sweeter than Honeydukes on a sunny day, no worries, and free

…sweeter than the feeling of accomplishments with your clone

And so, George remembers.

Laughter is…warmer than Mrs. Weasely's cheeks after she reads yet another letter from an amused Dumbledore.

…warmer than toasting in Egypt with the ones you love

…warmer than the smile on his face when sitting in front of the blazing Gryffindor common room fire

And so, George laughs.
