A/N: Wow, getting back into the fanfiction world! I didn't think I would write again, but here I am, all ready to go. I'm doing this mostly because I wanted to read a "What if Fisheye had not used the sphere to fix Usagi's mirror of dreams?", and was surprised to find none. So I figured, why not write one?

The sky was clearing up. It was starting to look like a promising day after all.

"It finally stopped raining, Usako." Mamoru walked away from the window, and sat next to her. "It's a nice day for a date, you know. We could go to this new restaurant that you would love, Usako! I'll take you sometime, I promise."

He smiled and looked at her. He tried his best not to cry when he looked at her.

She kept looking straight forward, which was the ceiling. Suddenly, she turned her head slowly towards his direction, and looked at him with lifeless blue eyes.

She smiled. He tried to keep smiling.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you! Chibiusa did very well on her last math exam! You should have seen her face when I took her out like I promised... she was so happy. I'm sure she wanted to rub it all over your face, since she kept mentioning how she does better at school than you. Which is true, Usako, you really need to study more often..."

Her smiled faltered a bit, but she did not look away. Mamoru chuckled and grabbed her hand, and that empty smile came back.

"The girls... they're okay too. Remember how I told you that after fighting with Queen Nehellenia, things finally calmed down? They went back to their usual ways... Minako is totally obsessed with this band called 'Three Lights', or something like that... well, that's all she ever talks about, along with the other girls. Even Ami! I know, shocking."

The corners of her mouth curved ever so slightly. And maybe it was his mind playing tricks on him again, but her eyes gained some shine to them again.

"...Setsuna is trying to understand why the future isn't affected by what's happening now. She says that maybe we created an alternative time-line, which would make since but... it shouldn't matter right? If something happened, Chibiusa would..." Mamoru stopped his train of thought there. He didn't want to think of the alternative.

Usagi's smile disappeared, and her eyelids dropped a bit.

"I'm sorry, Usako." His voiced cracked at the end, and cursed when he could feel the prickle of tears already. He never could last long.

He wasn't strong like she was.

"We... we're trying to find a way to fix your mirror of dreams, or rather, find a way to... to do something for you. Helios tried to help, but even he couldn't do anything. And I..I-I... Usako."

He really wasn't strong like she was.

"Usako, please... please wake up. I miss you... I-I need you!"

She kept staring at him with her dull blue eyes.

"Usako...p-please, I know you can hear me..."

But she never moved, or acknowledged what he said, even long after he left. She just turned her head back, and started at the ceiling with dull blue eyes.

The sky darkened once again, and the rain came harder than ever.
