AN: Nearly 2am, listening to the end of Prophet of Yonwood, and I had this idea…totally random, and born out of frustration and insanity…just like every story anywhere ever.

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

The first time Nickie was in Yonwood, Grover wasn't that much taller than her. If they stood on level ground, she was almost looking him in the eyes…those large, curious eyes that she loved so much. His only problem was that his blonde hair fell into them, covering them. In the years following that first visit, she found herself continuously and, almost compulsively, pushing his hair out of his eyes.

The second time, Nickie was taller than Grover. It was funny how those things happened. She'd noticed it at school – one year you're looking up and straining your neck to see the face of a boy, then the next, you're looking down at it. She had to be at least a half-head taller than him, and she loved to remind him of that fact. True, he was older than her, but that just made it better for her.

At age 13, Nickie was a full 5' 7", and pretty much done growing. But Grover wasn't. He stood a whopping 5' 10", and Nickie was, once again, having to look up to see his face. But she didn't mind that much. Her immaturity about her height was gone.

Her fourth visit to the town of Yonwood, and Nickie didn't only have to look up, but actually be straining her neck, if she wanted to see Grover's face, if they were, for instance, in the shed, where she couldn't back up to look him in the face. If they were having one of their extremely rare serious conversations, she'd make him sit down, so she could look him in the eyes, only to swat his hair out of his face and tell him he needed a hair cut.

The fifth time, Nickie gave up on trying to look at Grover's face when they spoke. She was much taller than most of the girls in her school or Grover's school – at 5' 8", she'd resigned herself to the fact that she'd never be able to wear heels to a school dance – but Grover was taller yet, standing at a towering 6 foot. It made it almost impossible to see his face, let alone reach it, but somehow, she'd manage….if she had a good incentive…

If you're confused about the ending, go look at the genre again. R&R! And I know that Grover wasn't always around. But you know what? I honestly don't care!
