Yugi ran into his bedroom looking for his book bag.

"Ack! It's only the second day of school and already I'm losing things!" He looked everywhere, places where it might have been; under his bed, behind the curtains, even the closet. Still unable to find it, he sighed and sat on his bed. "If this keeps up I'll be late..." All of a sudden, the said bag plopped on his lap.

"You looking for that?" Yugi looked up to see his old friend. He smiled and said,

"Thanks Pharaoh." Atem sighed.

"Yugi, how many times do I have to tell you? You can drop the formalities. Just call me by my name." Yugi smiled nervously,

"Sorry, it's just become a habit." Atem smiled. It had been a year since Atem returned. Maybe it was because Yugi felt lonely since Atem left, or maybe it was Atem wanting to stay with him. Whatever it was, the gods sent Atem back in human form and that was just fine by Yugi. Yugi stood up,

"Well, I'm off. See ya Atem." Yugi said, sending Atem a smile before leaving his bedroom. Yugi ran downstairs and out the door. "Bye Grandpa! I'm off!"

"Bye Yugi! Have a good day!" Solomon called to his grandson before Yugi ran off. Yugi was in the middle of town when he looked at the clock tower.

"Oh man! I only have 10 minutes!" He ran faster, trying to avoid anything that could potentially cause an accident. Then without warning, and looking, he bumped into someone, causing him to fall on his backside. He groaned,

"Ow...Oh! I'm sorry! I'm a really big rush!" He looked up to see a girl about the same age as him picking up cards and some books,

"No no! It's ok!" Yugi walked over and knelt down.

"Here. Let me help you." Yugi offered, beginning to pick up her things,

"Oh it's ok! You don't have to do that!" The girl exclaimed, picking up the rest in a flash. Yugi handed her a dueling card he picked up,

"Your duelist huh?" Yugi asked.

"Um, y-yes. I'm only a beginner though." She said. Yugi gave a small smile,

"I see. Oh! I'm gonna be late! Sorry about bumping into you!" He bowed and ran off while the girl tilted her head, bewildered.

OoOoOoOoOoOo

Yugi entered the classroom panting. Everyone was still talking to each-other, which meant class hadn't started yet. He head hung and sighed a sigh of relief,

"Phew...Just made it."

"Hey Yug! What's with being almost late?" Yugi looked up to see his friend Joey smiling at him. Yugi smiled back,

"Hey Joey. I couldn't find my book bag and then I bumped into a girl by accident." Yugi explained and Joey laughed,

"Funny, aren't YOU always the one who's always organized?" Yugi chuckled.

"Ya maybe." Then the teacher came in and everyone sat down.

"Hello class." The teacher said. "Today I would like to introduce a new student." Everyone in the class looked at one another,

"A new student?"

"We haven't had one in a while."

"I hope he's dreamy!"

"How do you know it's a guy?!"

"Settle down, settle down." The teacher ordered as he looked over to the door. "I'd like to introduce you to-" He then saw the student wasn't there and he sweat-dropped nervously. A girls face peaked in a little nervously, and the teacher sent her a smile,

"It's ok, don't be shy. We are all here to meet you." A girl, who wore a small pink bow on top of her cerulean blue hair stepped into the classroom and stood next to the teacher. By the looks of it, and the way she wrote her name on the board, she was very shy. "Class, meet Emily Monika. She is an exchange student from America. Please show courtesy to her." Yugi went wide-eyed.

It's that girl!

Once again, the class started talking,

"Wow, it's a girl."

"She sure is pretty."

"Aw man, it's a girl."

"I told you, never get your hopes up..."

"Settle down everyone...Now Emily. You may sit anywhere you like." Emily nodded and looked around nervously. She saw Yugi and went wide-eyed, probably recognizing him from earlier. She saw an empty desk next to him and walked over,

"Umm...Is it alright if I sit next to you?" Emily asked shyly. Yugi gave a warm smile,

"Sure. I don't mind." Emily smiled back and sat down. Yugi looked at her and said,

"I'm Yugi Muoto. Nice to meet you." Emily nodded,

"Nice to meet you too. Yugi...That's a nice name." She said and Yugi blushed a bit,

"You think so? Thanks. Emily's a nice name too." Emily blushed as well, though a bit more than Yugi,

"Th-Thank you. Oh, and sorry 'bout earlier." Yugi waved his hands frantically in front of him,

"N-No no, it's ok! I should be the one apologizing! I wasn't looking where I was going after all..." He scratched the back of his head.

"Ahem, excuse me you two." They both turned to the teacher, "I know you both would like to get to know each other, but let it be after the lesson please?" Both Yugi and Emily sweat-dropped as their classmates giggled.

"S-Sorry sir..." They then turned their attention to the lesson and their day commenced. After the school day, Yugi introduced Emily to his friends. Emily hid behind Yugi at first, but after a little reassurance, she came out from behind him,

"Hey kid. Name's Joey. This is Tristan, Tea, Bakura, and Kelly, who's also an exchange student." Joey said, pointing out to each one of Yugi's friends. Tea and Kelly smiled,

"Nice to meet you Emily." They said in unison. Emily smiled back and asked,

"Same. So are you guys duelists?" The four nodded.

"Yup. All of us are. But Yugi's the best outta all of us though. He keeps beating us." Joey said chuckling. Kelly sighed,

"You kidding me? He beat me 6 times in a row...But I was close at one point!" She said and Yugi chuckled and said,

"Ya your were. Got me worried there!" The girl giggled and then asked,

"So what part of the U.S are you from Emily?"

"I'm from Florida. My dad got a promotion so we had to move."

"Cool! I lived in New Jersey. I got to go to Anime Conventions each summer!" Kelly said, reminiscing as her face became all cat-like. Joey rolled his eyes,

"You and Anime...I can't believe our teacher let you use that subject for you Senior paper!" Kelly pouted,

"Hey! He did say ANYTHING!"

"Whatever ya crazy..." Joey sighed as he rolled his eyes. Emily blinked but smiled at the fact that the two of them good talk like that. All of a sudden, Kelly gasped,

"Oh man! I forgot! I have to go home! My friends sister's coming over and I have to babysit! See you later guys!" She waved goodbye and ran out the door.

"Well that was sudden." Emily said, a little surprised. Tristan shrugged,

"Meh, things usually are around here." Just then the gang heard a clang and bash.

"Ow! Sorry!" Everyone sweat-dropped.

"See?"

OoOoOoOoOoOo

Yugi said good-bye to his friends and offered to walk Emily home, since he wanted to be nice and all. He still felt bad about bumping into her and running off in such a rush, even if he did apologize earlier. Emily gladly took his offer and walked with him. On the way, they got to know each other better; talking about things that new friends would talk about. Yugi then stopped in front of the game shop.

"Hey Emily?" The girl stopped and turned to him. "Before I walk you the rest of the way home, I want you to meet another friend." Emily tilted her head,

"Another friend?" Yugi smiled,

"Ya follow me." Emily nodded and followed Yugi inside,

"Grandpa! I'm home!" Yugi called. His Grandpa came out from the back room and greeted his grandson,

"Ah hello Yugi. Hm? Who's this young woman?" Solomon asked,

"This is Emily. She's a new student at my school." Emily bowed and said,

"Hello sir. It's very nice to meet you." Solomon smiled,

"Oh there's no need for that. Just call me Solomon." Emily stood up,

"Kay si-I mean, Solomon." Emily's face turned a light pink as she corrected herself. Solomon chuckled and then turned back to his grandson,

"Hey Yugi, why not introduce Emily her to Atem? I'm sure he'd be happy meeting someone new." Yugi nodded,

"Yup, I was just about to do that. Come on. He's upstairs." He directed Emily to the stairs and she followed. Yugi showed her his bedroom and there Emily saw a man who looked similar to her new friend. The main differences were that he looked a bit older and his eyes were more intense like, but kind. He was reading a book when the two came in and looked up,

"Hello Yugi. Welcome home. Hm?" He then saw Emily entering behind his younger counterpart. "Who's that?" He asked. Yugi looked at and introduced Emily,

"Oh this is Emily. She just joined my school. She's an exchange student, like Kelly." Atem nodded and sent a small smile,

"Well then, nice to meet you. I'm Atem." Emily returned his smile .

"Nice to meet you too, Atem. Hm...Isn't that an Egyptian name?" Emily asked. Atem went wide-eyed a little and nodded,

"Yes it is. How did you know?" Emily giggled,

"Well, my mom is Egyptian. I get some Egyptian blood from her." Atem brought a curled finger to his chin in intrigue,

"Oh really? How interesting."

"So does that mean your part Egyptian?" Emily asked,

"I'm full Egyptian actually." Atem explained. Emily went wide eyed,

"Really? That's awesome!" Atem chuckled,

"You think so? Thank you." Emily smiled as did Yugi. He saw that the two of them were getting along just fine. He then looked at the clock on his wall,

"Oh ya! Emily, I think I should get you home." Emily shook her head,

"No no. It's alright. I can manage. Thank you for the offer though. Nice meeting you Atem." Atem sent her a smile that made Emily's heart skip a beat. She wasn't too sure why but she felt a little on-edge all of a sudden. Yugi noticed this, seeing that she wasn't moving.

"Hey Emily? You ok?" Yugi asked and Emily snapped out of it,

"Huh? Oh yes I'm fine. I guess the first day at school kinda wore me out." The three shared a laugh, "I suppose I should get going now. Maybe I could come visit tomorrow though?" Yugi smiled widely.

"Sure! That'd be nice! Maybe the others can come?" Emily glowed as she started her way out,

"Ya! Looking forward to it! See you tomorrow!" After she left, Yugi sat down on his bed, setting his backpack beside him,

"Well today was eventful." Atem nodded, turning to the door,

"Indeed. I am interested what Emily will bring to our group." Yugi smiled,

"Me too."

Emily walked herself home and entered her house. She set her things on the couch as she smelled her favorite dish being made. Since it was around six pm, her father was cooking dinner in the kitchen.

"I'm home." The middle aged man turned to her and sent her a wide grin,

"Hey Emily. What kept you?"

"Oh, I was just visiting a new friend's place. They were showing me around." Emily explained. Her father went wide eyed then, out of nowhere, hugged his daughter,

"Oh Emily dear I'm so happy for you! It's only your first day and you're already making friends! I knew it was a good idea to make your favorite dish!" Emily smiled nervously as she was squeezed by her parent,

"I-I am happy too daddy! But I think you should keep an eye on the chicken! It looks like it's burning!" Her father yelped and went to tend to the said burning food. Emily only rolled her eyes giggling. Her father was the super-doting kind that would do almost anything for her. They say almost because the people that knew her father worried that he would never allow Emily to marry someone. Let alone go out on a date. It was sort of a running joke going on in the family.

"I'm gonna spend some time in my room, kay?" The man turned, trying to put out a flame on the skillet,

"Of course dear! Dinner will soon be ready! Just..." He turned to the chicken, then back to his daughter, "Stay on your guard." Emily laughed,

"I will." It's not that he was a bad cook, it was just that he was a poor reader of temperature; mostly doing three to four checks on whatever he was cooking. She walked into her bedroom, sat on her bed and laid down.

"I guess moving wasn't bad at all..." she said smiling, thinking about what happened today. Of course the first person to come to mind was Yugi. Mainly because her day started out with them bumping into each other. "Yugi...He's so nice...So are his friends...Especially the one that looks like him...Atem I think his name was..." She then thought of his smile he gave her and her heart skipped a beat again. Her face was red, but then she shook her head and sighed. "I never had a boy smile at me like that. I guess that might be the reason..." She then sat up as she heard her dad scream,

"AAH! Help! The chicken has turned the flames against me!" Emily sighed again,

"I knew that was gonna happen..."

Ok! First chapter done!

Yugi: This might get interesting.

Me: You bet!

Joey: Meh, I don't know...

Me: What, you don't have confidence in me? Gee, thanks...

Joey: I never said that!

Atem: This better not turn into one of your fights.

Me: Who said it was?

Tea: Half of the time it progresses into it!

Tristan: She has a point...

Me: *Sigh* Welp, That's all for now, I have to go get ready for my Grandpa's 70th birthday party.

Emily: He sure doesn't look like it. He looks 40!

Me: Ya think? O.O
