Breaking the Curse
A/N This sprouted from watching Shrek late last night but it came from the scene where Fiona was wanting to tell Shrek about the curse but was too late but I always imagined what would happen if she had found a way to tell him.
Fiona sighed as she picked up the sunflower as she opened the door but was sad.
She knew Shrek had overheard what she'd told Donkey but she'd been talking about herself. For a long time she'd been told that it was bad to be an ogre by night and it had made people in Far, Far Away hate her as a child including her own father King Harold but these last few days she had been thinking they were wrong.
But she sighed as she began plucking the sunflower petals.
"What if I showed him or told him about my curse?
Would he still like me?" she thought as the final petal brought her decision.
"I'll tell him." she thought as she walked off tofind him......
Shrek stared at the moon and the stars in the night sky but sighed.
He had a feeling this would've happened but had wanted to try because there was something so amazing about Fiona because she saw him like nobody else did but knew that she was a princess and he was an ogre.
"Maybe there's something she's hiding but doesn't come out of her shell easily like you.
Things are more than they appear." his heart told him.
"Shrek..." he heard somebody say as he turned around.
"Oh it's you.
What do you want?
I heard you through the door." he said with a hint of hurt in his tone.
Fiona sighed at that.
This wasn't easy for her to tell somebody because of the fear of being rejected but she had to try.
Unlike all the times growing up in Far, Far Away, this was something she wanted more than breaking a spell.
"I-I wasn't talking about you.
I would never want to hurt your feelings." she began.
Shrek was confused hearing that.
"Who were you talking about then?" he asked her softly.
Fiona sighed drawing courage as she prepared to tell him her secret but saw him gasp as she stepped out into the moonlight but saw a smile on his face seeing her ogre form.
She saw the surprise in his hazel eyes but something else.
It was joy that he knew this.
"How....... did this happen?" he asked her curiously.
"Ever ince I was born.
My father banished a witch from Far, Far Away, the kingdom that I came from but she was angry.
In her spite and rage, she cast a spell on me making human by day but ogre by night.
That was why I was placed in the dragon guarded tower to await my prince and to break the curse that binds me.
But......." she explained.
"But you don't want to break it, do you?" Shrek told her.
She nodded in reply.
He sighed sadly.
"I think you're more beauitful this way." he said.
Fiona had a surprised look on her face at that.
"R-Really?" she asked him.
He nodded.
"Aye I do.
You're more beauitful and sweet in this form but it's your choice.
Whtever you want, you decide." he answered as Fiona nodded.
"I'm not sure yet." she replied.
"It's okay because you still have time." he told her.
She smiled looking up at the moonlight........
Fiona smiled hearing the triplets wake up.
It'd been a few years since that night but she was so happy that she'd made the right choice for herself but hoped that there was True Love for everybody in the world but the triplets didn't understand.
"Why're you so happy Mommy?
Is it your birthday?" one of her triplets answered.
"It's not my birthday honey but I'm so happy that I married your father." she answered.
"And that we became a family?" one of the triplets asked her.
She nodded as she hugged them.
It had been meant to be that she and Shrek were meant to be together........
