The Tale of Dorian Gray

Disclaimer: I cannot be in anyway be worthy of any work of Oscar Wilde. This is but a poor tribute.

Note: To celebrate this special date, 09-09-09, I have decided to post 9 entries tonight (this is one of them). This is also to celebrate the opening of the film "Dorian Gray" today starring the gorgeous Ben Barnes. I am so looking forward to seeing that! The trailer inspired this little piece. I haven't written poetry in a while so forgive the mediocrity.

A short poem, quickly done about a man who sold his soul for his own vanity.

9 lines, 9 syllables each.

Enjoy.

A face that one can never forget

Behind beauty a hideous secret

A trade he will soon come to regret

Living in debauchery and vice

His whole existence a web of lies

For which he shall pay a heavy price

The whole world he had once stood to win

Had he not chosen the path of sin

Angel outside but monster within.
