Prompt: Imprisoned
Pairing: Soi Fon/Hinamori Momo

There are different kinds of weaknesses, and Hinamori's is the only one that Soi Fon could ever bring herself to pity.

She'd like to believe that she's unbiased when she judges the events leading up to the girl's mental decay, but there is something that prevents her from looking at everything from her typical angle.

"Foolish girl. You don't deserve the title of fukutaichô."

"…You're right."

Blame always was her forte.

Against her better judgment, she visits the girl's cell, where she blankly stares at the walls. The sight is enough to send a shiver throughout her body – there is a certain rawness in the atmosphere that truly frightens her. It's almost suffocating in its intimidation.

"Hello, Soi Fon-taichô," Hinamori greets weakly.

She doesn't respond; she appraises her, noting the dark circles under her eyes. Soi Fon approaches the bars, mouth slightly agape as the Fifth Division's fukutaichô hardly acknowledges the fact that she's there at all.

"Look at me, Hinamori," she says softly.

She looks, her eyes tired and devoid of the life that she once possessed in them. Soi Fon feels her heart wrench for a reason unknown to her; she supposes that she always sympathized with the broken dolls and their crooked smiles, but she convinces herself that the girl brought this upon herself.

"Betrayal is a reprehensible thing. I can't pardon your actions, but you should know that love alone can't keep someone from hurting you," she tells her, wrapping her fingers around the bars.

Hinamori rises and slowly moves towards her; her eyes are cast towards the floor as her fingers graze Soi Fon's.

"Then what will?"

She closes her eyes; that's a question she can't answer, if only because she's tried everything.

"I'm sorry," Soi Fon whispers.

She leaves, her heart twisted and cracked, and she doesn't know why.
