Trust Me
For Star's Yule Ball Challenge
.
"I don't know if this is such a good idea…"
"You want him to notice, don't you?"
"Shh, not so loud!"
"Well, do you?"
"Of course. You of all people know that…"
"Well then what's the problem? I'm telling you, Hermione, I know him. I know how he's feeling and what he's thinking. This is how to get a reaction out of him. Whaddya say, go to the Yule ball with me?"
"I guess; if you're sure."
"Trust me. I'll pick you up at seven."
.
Hermione tugged down on her dark burgundy dress, "Did you have to pick such a short dress?"
"Do you want to get his attention or not?" Blaise chuckled, "And plus, it will only add to the intensity of the reaction."
As they walked through the double doors, every eye was on them. The most unlikely couple that Hogwarts had seen as of late, and definitely one that would a round of good gossip; Lavender would most definitely be satisfied for at least a week. Hermione tried to push the butterflies in her stomach away; she hissed, "Blaise, I don't know if this is such a good idea anymore."
The Italian put on his biggest smile, acting as if everything was as normal as the sky being blue, and muttered, "Too late for that decision, I'm afraid. Now you get to grin and bear it. Just trust me."
.
And the two cunning plotters carried out there scheme, and seemed oblivious to everyone else's gaping faces.
They danced like a normal would dance, had fun like a normal couple should have fun. Working hard at their little charade, the Slytherin and Gryffindor duo could have easily passed off as a normal couple.
With the only exception that normal couples don't have people coming up to them and punching one of them in the eye. To be more specific, Hermione did not have the knowledge of what to do when Draco Malfoy came and graciously gave her date a swollen, black eye.
Sadly enough, as Draco yelled obscenities that didn't register in her brain, all she could think about of how great of a punch that was.
"You know how I felt about her, you bastard! And to think I confided in you about bloody everything!-"
And just like they had practiced, Hermione intervened, "Draco, what's this all about?"
As said boy calmed slightly, the rest of the room hung on to every single word, like starved hyenas about to get thrown a piece of juicy meat. "Let's go out to the courtyard… we need to talk about something."
.
.
Pansy brought Blaise some magically frozen peas to put on his eye, as they waiting in the infirmary for the potion to kick into effect. "Was all this trouble really worth getting your best mate a girlfriend?"
His eyes sparkled with joy, "A black eye in exchange for matching up Mr. and Mrs. Draco Malfoy? Most definitely."
"What makes you so sure they'll stay together."
"Trust me, they're meant for each other."

Author's Note.
For: Star's (fallingstar93) Yule Ball Challenge
Requirements: For Hermione to go to the Yule Ball with anyone other than Krum. Must include being asked, the ball itself, and how (or if) it effected the future.
I figured I'd do a Draco/Hermione (of course) but add small twist. Hope you enjoyed it!
