Unspoken Affinity, a Dr. K story
KZig if you squint.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters to be mentioned in this fanfiction, and I probably never will.
Dr. K is not an emotional person. She has them, though she doesn't often choose to voice them out, or even let them inhabit her person for more than mere minutes.
Every time they rear their heads and try to control her, she tries to push them out of her system, though, lately, she's been having little to no success over them. The emotions that find a way around her defenses frequently, and among them are concern, happiness, and, even though she won't ever admit it, love.
Concern.
Every time Scott, Flynn, Summer, Dillon, Gem, Gemma, and Ranger Green put themselves out there against Venjix's forces, she can't help but to feel that something is bound to go wrong, that someone would end up seriously injured. It was torture to watch them whilst out in the field- not even thoughts of how well trained they all are could comfort her. Why do you think she constructs such powerful gadgets, aside from the fact that the whole fate of the city depends on it?
In fact, she cares more about her Rangers, her friends, than she does for the City- after all, she, along with most of the militia, have built cozy safe houses underground, in the then likely event that Venjix would somehow infiltrate and destroy Corinth.
That concern she felt while the Rangers were fighting Venjix always goes away to be overcome by the happiness she felt that they have all returned to her in one piece. When they greet her after coming back to the Base, a heavy weight is lifted from her shoulders.
Once, the Rangers managed to convince her to venture 'outside' and enjoy the day. She was reluctant, especially when they told her that her white cloak wasn't going with her. Still, they presented a good argument- even Dillon agreed she needed some sun. She was about to step into the sunlight, but the alarm sounded, and she ran with purpose back into the safety of her lab. They were too tired after the battle to notice that she was waiting for them, ready to have a walk in the park with her friends.
It was the thought that counts, right?
Since then, that feeling of love grew and grew, and, sooner rather than later, she couldn't imagine life without the Rangers. She would expect Flynn to always be there, making his smoothies and fixing everyone's cars, that Scott would always be in the training room, Dillon would be watching television, Summer would always be there to break up the fight, and learned to live with Series Green always hovering around and touching her prototype gadgets, and forever trying to make her laugh.
Sometimes he'd manage to get a giggle or two out of her, or maybe a laugh if she was feeling extra happy. She'd even force out a grin just to see his brighter-than-the-artificial-sun smile. Something about him made Dr. K want to please him, but she couldn't exactly explain what.
The moment he stepped into view, something tugged on her heartstrings, and she knew that the boy with the chocolate colored hair and bright smile would understand everything she's been through, that she can tell him anything and everything and it would never reach anyone else's ears.
It was as if they had some sort of bond, an unspoken infinity.
Little did she know it, but slowly, surely, she was falling for the quirky, sweet, and always happy Green Ranger.
Little did anyone know, he was falling for her.
Or so they like to think.
Everybody was tired of their denials and hoped they would just kiss and get it over with.
So...I know I haven't written anything for a while, but this is just something I wrote to kinda get me back into my groove. Better stuff will follow.
