Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, the great JKR does. A/N: I wrote this yesterday but didn't type it up. So, here it is. Enjoy!
Albus held Minerva as she cried. Once again she had snapped at her favourite pupil and secret lover.
"What's wrong with me, Albus? Why do I keep snapping at 'Mione?"
"I don't know, my dear. Perhaps the two of you just need some quality time together. It must be hard seeing each other during the week."
"It is Albus. Now it's her last year and we're both counting down the days until we can properly be together." Minerva sighed and stood, wiping her eyes. "I need to go and speak to her."
"I give you both permission to take the rest of the day off. I shall inform the other professor's and I shall cover the rest of your lessons for the day."
"Thank you, Albus. You truly are a great friend." Minerva pecked Albus on the cheek as a 'thank you' and almost ran to get Hermione out of her charms session.
"Excuse me, Professor Flitwick. May I borrow Miss Granger please?"
"Of course."
"Bring your things, Miss Granger." Minerva waited just outside the door for her love.
"Just what do you think you're doing?! Dragging me out of class." Hermione started her rant as soon as the door had closed behind her.
"Hermione, the headmaster has given the two of us the rest of the day off, so we may spend some time together."
"But –"
Minerva had already started walking down the corridor and Hermione had to run to catch up.
"Please don't run in the halls, Miss Granger."
"Why would the headmaster do that?" Hermione was completely ignored the professional tone that Minerva had directed at her once again.
"Because..." Minerva discreetly waved her hand and removed the concealment charm she had put on herself to hide her red puffy eyes. Minerva turned to look at Hermione and green eyes met brown.
"Oh, tabby." Hormone reached for Minerva's hand and squeezed. Hermione picked up her pace. She wanted to get to Minerva's quarters and holds her close.
Within minutes, the pair arrived at Minerva's quarters and Hermione sat on the sofa by the fireplace while Minerva got tea and ginger newts from her little kitchenette.
"Here you go, 'Mione."
"Thanks, Min." Hermione took a sip of her tea and placed her mug on the coffee table. "Minerva, I'm sorry."
"What for?" Minerva tucked her feet underneath herself, placed her mug on the coffee table and turned to face Hermione.
"I haven't exactly been very kind to you of late."
"That would be my own fault, honey. I'm sorry for being so snappy." Minerva lowered her head, awaiting the question that Hermione was bound to ask.
"I had noticed. But, why?"
"I've missed you. I've had more stress than usual. I can't sleep. My father passed away and my mother's taking it hard." Tears started running down Minerva's cheeks and Hermione pulled her close and ran her fingers through her beautiful, long, raven locks, while she cried.
"It's okay, tabby. Just let it out." Hermione soothed her lover.
Hours later the two soul mates were still entwined with each other on the sofa. Minerva was fast asleep and Hermione was watching her, singing softly. She paused for a second and whispered, "Everything will be alright, Min. I promise."
